Filters are not working

When I go to search for mods, I don't want to sift through all of the skimpy/naked/anime girl mods. I try checking off the tags, but none of them appear to be applied. Also, I've tried blocking some tags outright, but then every time I go to search, it tells me that I am not blocking any tags currently. It is making searching for decent male armors impossible. Is there something I am doing wrong here? It almost makes me wonder if it were easier if the armor category were split into Male and Female subsections. Anyway, any help would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately, most mod authors don't even bother to tag their own mods, then users don't bother to tag when they look at a mod.

 

Please tag when you do come across untagged mods. :thumbsup:

That's not the point. The point is that advice is not a solution in any sense of the word. How is tagging something after I have already found it at all helpful when trying to find new mods? What you are doing is basically shrugging your shoulders and telling me to "Deal with it". You guys are splitting the entire TESNexus into separate Morrowind and Oblivion sites, but you cannot take the time improve your search functions? Edited May 4, 2012 by DarkwingDirk

This is a community site, run by the community, for the community. We just provide the tools. The blocking tools are being updated very soon, but yes, we do actually expect you to tag files that haven't been tagged, or that have been tagged incorrectly.

 

We do not run these sites for people who want to take, take, take without giving anything back. If you're one of those people I suggest not asking for help from us.

As a matter of fact, I am working on multiple armor and weapon textures to distribute, including the Steel, Wolf and Ancient Nord sets. I have also given constructive criticism here, though that seems to have been thrown back in my face, but that is just the nature of the critique process. I never said that I refuse to tag, in fact I do tag mods I come across. I was simply unsatisfied with that being the only solution of bypassing unwanted search results. You are right, this site is community run. As a member of the community, and one of many in said community who do not subscribe to many of the more... "cosmetic" mods, I can tell you that there is a fair amount of frustration when it comes to this subject. I for one appreciate the effort that goes into those mods, and I'm glad they're there for people who want them, but like a great many others in the community, they are just not for us. Improving the blocking tools like you're speaking of will probably eradicate this stress in the community if, they are comprehensive enough. The solution is to force or suggest the modder and users to tag the mod.

 

 

I suggest something like the file rating reminder:

when you download a mod, the site will remind you to tag the mod

when enough users have tagged the mod (let say: 500 users), the mod is considered well tagged and won't remind anymore to tag it
