Constant Crashes

Master files, aka esm plug-ins, have nothing to do with it.ÃÂ There's tons of mods with an esp that are dependent on another mod that also has an esp.ÃÂ The one has the other as master, without the mod itself being an esm.ÃÂ In NMM, when clicking an orange or red coloured mod in the NMM plugins tab, you'll see in the right panel which mod you need to add to make the orange/red plug-in to work.

That's what I meant. I didn't mean ESMs, necessarily. I meant plug-ins that other plug-ins are dependent upon.

 

Every dependency is satisfied. That's why I don't understand why the plug-ins listed on the right for a particular ESP would be orange.

Because that particular esp is missing its master.

 

Plugs that show orange have their master file present, but that master file isn't active. Plugs that show red have their master not present at all, i.e. not installed.

They're all present and activated, though.

I'm looking right at them.

 

For example:

VerticalConduits.esp is reliant on Fallout4.esm and DLCWorkshop02.esm, yet both ESMs are highlighted in orange, even though both ESMs are present and active.

I'm cuurently stuck im Far Harbor. I keep crashing whenever I try to get back to the Commonwealth, both from taking the boat back and from fast traveling.
Oddly, when I take the boat back I crash as soon as the screen shows a glimpse of the game world, not when I'm seeing the loading screen. It probably makes perfect sense to someone more tech-saavy, but it doesn't make sense to me.

It could also be a load order issue.

 

To check for load order errors:

 

1. Sort with LOOT,

2. Install Wrye Bash into your FO4 main game folder,

3. Run Wrye Bash,

4. Sort plugins manually until none of them are orange/red,

5. If any of the orange/red plugins in Wrye Bash list an .esm as a master, use FO4Edit's "Sort Masters" function on this plugin and re-check the load order with Wrye Bash.

 

All it takes is one plugin not sorted properly to cause a CTD for any given reason. LOOT isn't the end-all of load orders, and even with advice from elsewhere, you still want to check it with Wrye Bash. LOOT is just the starting point for load order checking.

Sure, but that would mean crashes all the time, not just when fast travelling. Also, most of the time a screwy load order doesn't crash the game but messes-up some mods' assets. Most of the time.

 

 

These steps should be done anyway. LOOT is not correct 100% of the time. Even if it doesn't solve the OP's issue, it will make his game more stable to be certain the LO is not master-bjorked.

If and when official DLC plug-ins are showing up orange in NMM then there's something seriously wrong with your game files. I suggest you do an integrity check of the game through Steam because it looks like you did some cleaning of the main files and cleaned a bit too thorougly, or you manually deleted a mod and deleted too much and now files are missing that are needed by the DLC, or even by the game itself, hence the constant crashes...

I recently uninstalled and reinstalled the game, though.

 

I did previously delete "all identical to master" records with FO4Edit, but that was before I uninstalled and reinstalled the game.

 

Maybe there are some mods that are conflicting badly enough with the ESMs to fool wrye bash into thinking they aren't there.

 

Hopefully, reactivating all of my mods will clear up some of the orange.

Wait a minute... are the plug-ins orange in Wrye Bash or in Nexus Mod Manager?

 

And are you using a bashed patch? If so, first thing to do when the game crashes is to deactivate the bashed patch and see what gives.

Nexus Mod Manager is pretty easy to figure out. Wrye Bash is a whole different animal.

 

No, I'm not using a bashed patch.

 

 

Regardless, I've been suspecting that something was wrong with my mods, or possibly my computer, anyway, because for some reason, I can't get F4SE to function. (Yes, I'm using the F4SE loader. It only functions when all of my mods are disabled.)
