SirGalahad
I'm not sure how well it works, having one of the named NPCs assigned to a shop. For example, Mama Murphy begs for Jet, and does little else. Sturges is abrasive, might let you trade personal items with him, but doesn't seem to actually sell anything—when he even deigns to stand at his post. So, what do you do with those clowns? willyb9
leave them in the museum or send them to a settlement you never go to. that group specifically doesn't really work well with any job, same goes for companions, at least in my experience. i either use the level 4 special vendors for shops or regular settlers. trying to get mama murphy, sturges and co. to work or do anything you tell them will only frustrate you in the end

Thanks for letting me know!
TheSpaceShuttleChallenger
Sturges has been selling me armor for over a year with no issue, and Marcy is my fashion ho. They both do their jobs just fine, but with Marcy there's this weird bug where she's nice.

In my game, Sturges will go to his booth in the morning, but not stay there for more than a few minutes before walking off for the rest of the day.
