Mod Organizer 2 not installing mods

just moved over to mod organizer 2 (for skyrim (oldrim)). followed gamerpoets video demo for install

i can download mods from nexus using download with manager into MO2, but won't let me install them. throws up the error

none of the available installer plugins were able to handle that archive

this is likely due to a corrupted or incompatible download or unrecognized archive format

also shows a warning in the MO2 console - WARNING: we're trying to open an archive but could not recognize the extension or signature

anybody got any ideas whats causing this and how i can resolve

I would do two things. The first one is old school -- reboot your computer. Turn it all the way off, then back on again. The second is to redownload and reinstall MO2. Don't uninstall anything, just install over the old installation. If one of those doesn't help, then hopefully someone with more experience in MO2 (which I don't use) can offer a better suggestion. :)

tried that, it didnt work. I tried from within MO2 (downloaded from nexus using "mod manager download"), downloaded manually and tried installing from archive. i also downloaded mods using firefox, chrome and IE just to make sure it isnt browser related. Also checked my AV, all good. I havent touched anything on the plugins part of the settings

  • 3 weeks later...

Same exact problem here but modding FO4. It has to be an error downloading them because I tried several different mods in a row and the first two showed "0 KB" in the downloaded file window in MO2, the third showed "129122 KB" then the fourth showed zero as well. I tried to install all of them but got the error on all but the one that actually showed data downloaded, number three, I kept trying and it seemed random what ones would download and what wouldnt. Super frustrating.

--UPDATE-- I was able to fix my issue by selecting a different download server. I had selected a preferred server both on Nexus and in MO2... apparently something was up with it. I switched to the default CDN server and now I'm able to download the files properly and install them.
