KevinsHope
Hello, Real quickly, is it possible to relocate the muzzle flash animation of a gun, and, if so, where do I do it? I'm guessing in GECK, but I can't find the option anywhere. Thanks for any help.
MichikoUnknownFox
I don't know if that's possible. Never seen such an option either. The muzzle flash seems to be automatically assigned to come out of the front point of the gun, on where the game assumes the front point will be. It's often inaccurate, and the muzzle flash will often show up below and behind the actual barrel tip, which is where bullets actually come from as well. In third person it's more obvious. Crouching, in fact, will reveal the bullets coming from somewhere over your elbow/shoulder area, which is also where the muzzle flashes come from if I'm not mistaken. o_O
prensa
KevinsHope - Hello! "is it possible to relocate the muzzle flash animation of a gun" Yes. "and, if so, where do I do it? " It's actually really easy to modify the muzzle flash location, it's done in the model/mesh/.nif of the weapon you're working on with a tool called Nifskope: http://sourceforge.net/projects/niftools/files/nifskope/ Before making changes, make a backup copy of the .nif you are going to change, .nif's can be touchy so it's best to have a clean version to fall back on. :) With Nifskope installed, you open the weapon mesh in it & look for the "Projectile Node" in the Block List. It will be invisible on the model in the Render window but the branch will have that name & left clicking on it will highlight the node's location. It will be the yellow dot at the end of a line. Obviously it should be near the end of the weapon's barrel. Right clicking on the "Projectile Node" in Block List will bring up options, choose Transform - Edit. This will bring up a box where you can adjust the Projectile Node's location by changing the X,Y,Z coordinates. You'll notice the yellow dot move as you adjust those. Click on Accept when you are done. Right click on the "Projectile Node" again & select "Apply" a warning will come up click "Try Anyway". Save the modified .nif & check in game to see if you're happy with the new position. If anything is really messed up, just replace with the backup .nif & try again. Hope this helps!
