panzersharkcat
I'm trying to use IPA as a master file for PMO 0.93 as a way of recreating New Vegas' DT system. How does Toughness and Cyborg affect that? Does damage resistance given to creatures work as usual? Are damage reductions for the head and body tracked separately? The last one would put a damper on the whole recreating DT thing but it'd make more sense, since wearing armor on your chest should not protect your head. Thanks. MichikoUnknownFox
Yeah damage reduction to head and body are separate. It doesn't work the same way as regular Damage Resistance in the game. It takes that into account, then uses its own math to quickly restore health based on how much damage was "reduced" by the armor's DR stat divided by 4. As such, it only works on armors that are in the Impervious Armor Form ID list, and on power armors. As an example, let's say you have a power armor that has 40 DR. On the standard 1x setting of IPA, that means that you can absorb up to 10 damage (40/4=10). So any attack that does 10 damage to you or less will effectively do no damage (save for if ImperviousOffset is set to 1 or more). If a Molerat bites you for 9 damage, you'll take no damage. If a gun deals 11 damage to you, your HP will only go down by 1 point. As for your other question, I'm not clear as to whether this mod will take effect after every other DR addition. I think it happens after DR is calculated, because when wearing power armor, getting hit by a pistol that's supposed to have 16 base damage does almost no damage at all. Trying to kill an opponent in power armor with a small 10mm pistol is utter lunacy, etc.
panzersharkcat
Thank you. I was worried for a moment that I accidentally gave Enclave troops something like the equivalent of 60 DT by mistake.
