Barchetta3223
Have you checked to see if a new game suffers the same problem?
Velos2467
Yes, it does. I have loaded up a new save, used the Better Vampires' ability to create blood thralls (AFT was on), on a baseid necromancer. Then i spawned the exact same necromancer again, and he was marked as essential. Trying this again, i turned AFT off, then repeated the blood thrall creation, spawned thesame npc as i just made a thrall (thralls become followers), and that one was NOT essential. Now that ive seen this, i think that when i make a thrall out of a radiant npc like a bandit/necromancer, AFT reacts and makes that npc essential, as well as making all npcs like that essential for some reason. When AFT was off, this did not happen. The npc i made a follower using better vampires became essential, but thesame npc i spawned directly afterwards was not made a follower, was NOT essential. Barchetta3223
Should mention this incompatibility to the mod authors. Thatâs a big one. See if they can figure out the cause and patch it
Velos2467
Well, AFT maker says he doesnt maintain it anymore, but ill send it to both of them anyway. Perhaps theyll know what to do. As for my saves, is there any way to save it? Even when i disable AFT, the npcs are still essential, and ignore all commands. Do you know a way to fix this, or am i doomed to dealing with it? Algabar
As was said before, NPC status gets baked into your save game. Probably not too much you could do about it other than using console. You may try to use a save game cleaner like this one:https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/5031I wouldn't put my hopes on it though - it might help if the "essential" status is attached via a scirpt. But even then - NPC data is part of the save game... For the future, I'd recommend "immersive AFT":https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/14722?tab=files Use this as your only follower managing mod. You don't need anthing else. There's also an option to set followers to "essential" status - or give them a very small chance of dying only.. I'm using "iAFT" as my only follower tweaking mod for months now - not a single problem... IMHO, it's much more reliable than the old "AFT" - and it is still supported... I stopped using NPC controllers in favor of using only advanced followers with their own framework. However, I got a couple of followers that I thought were advanced because they have voice work and quests. Turns out they have the basic follow stuff and no advanced features. I kind of want to pick up a NPC controller now but don't want to risk accidentally screwing up the AI on my smart followers.
Algabar
@Baron of Hell: If you know iAFT (or its predecessor AFT) a bit, it's IMHO quite easy to tell which dialogue options come from the framework and which are from the follower mod itself. To maybe make it easier, you can also choose not to use the "immersive" dialogue options, but the standard options from AFT. I prefer the latter, because I find them clearer. They also have something a bit "technical" about them, so the should be easy to identify. Just a general headsup (rather for other people reading this): Don't use iAFT (or any other follower framework) for "advanced" follower mods, which have their own dialogue options. Also don't use follower frameworks on Serana, as long as you haven't completed the whole Dawnguard questline. But I'm sure you know that already..
