What type of DRM does the boxed Ultimate Edition have?

Essentially I have most DLC and the full game on Xbox 360, but I really want this game on PC.

Now, what sort of DRM do I expect? I sadly cannot get the steam version due to broadband usage not being enough.

Thanks.

Why are you asking about DRM at all? What has that got to do with buying a non-Steam version of the game?

All versions require a one-time internet connection to "activate" the game after installation.

The retail disc (boxed) set contains all the officially released materials except some very minor vendor-specific promotional gear (rings, etc.)

so the game connects to steam much like New Vegas and Skyrim?

I ask about DRM because theres many types, I do not want to buy a game if I have to be online 24/7 to play it.

if its just a serial code and disc check much like Sims 3 then its great, but if I have to be online during my gameplay then its annoying, unless its like a "check up" every week sort of thing then thats ok, but I dont want to have to be online constantly to play a game because then I cant play it while im on lunch breaks lol.

I have the game for Mac, and it only required me to "activate" it the first time I played. Although, I read somewhere that you need to log in every few days to "verify" that you are still using it legitimately. I'm not sure if this is true, though. Edited by billyro

Once you've registered your game you have the option of logging in online when you start to play (this updates your online profile), or not logging in (useful if the servers go down and you are using downloaded content). You are not obliged to be connected to play.

For several reasons I do NOT recommend the Steam version.

One reason is the "non-standard" installation folders, which can result in considerable difficulty getting mods and console commands to work.
