kevkiev
I'd like to place guards using the Create Followers mod at various sites around the world. That mod allows you to craft a beacon and follower and you keep the beacon with you to have a follower, but you can also place it in a container to keep the "follower" stationary and close to the container. I figure I can spawn a container with the "player.placeatme" command and then use "modpos" commands to position it nicely. Then it's just a matter of placing the beacon inside but I'm concerned that, if/when the container resets, the beacon will be lost. (The FO4 Wiki page on containers mentions that containers reset after a certain amount of time.) Considering a lot of containers in the world seem always to be empty, or don't resupply after you loot them, I'm thinking there has to be a way to set a console-spawned container so it doesn't reset? JimmyRJump
There's containers in the Furniture build menu. Self-built containers are (to my knowledge) the only containers that don't reset. You could also try the setownership console command and see what gives.
kevkiev
Thanks for the reply, but I'm needing containers in the non-settlement world. I tried building various containers in a settlement and then moving them with "moveto player" but it didn't work. But, yeah, maybe the setownership thing might have some legs with a spawned non-settlement container. I'll test that out, thanks. Edit: Discovered (finally) the feature in Place Anywhere to toggle off the workshop timeout. Using that, I was able to create containers in a settlement and then move them to various places outside the settlement borders. Did the same with some turrets (wireless). Examples: was able to move turrets made at Starlight Drive-In to Drumlin Diner; turrets made at Coastal Cottage to Leonard Moore's shack; turrets and containers made at Oberland Station to Niah's shop (from Tales from the Commonwealth - shack on road to DC south of Oberland); and containers made at Hangman's Alley to Diamond City's main entrance. But there's a distance limit - I couldn't move items made at Hangman's Alley to Eleanor's trailer. It's not too far away from Diamond City but too far to move stuff from Hangman's.
