Player Char has burnt body when naked?

Hello, fairly new to skyrim modding here so I don't know if this is a common thing that holds a different name but my search results didn't yield anything. I use the Ashen (Oriental Beautys) custom race for my player char and up until last night used vanilla skyrim body without a hitch. I installed CBBE default and now whenever I take the cuirass off her she has a burnt body model. This applies to both nevernude and default.

Thanks to all who reply.

bump for hope

Thats not burnt actually it's AstridBody.dds but it should be showing the correct texture regardless.

I would just try disabling one mod at a time until it goes away to find the problem first. Then report the bug to the author of the problem mod, chances are it's been reported and fixed already.

Edit: you also need to work on that load order. Hair first, then armor, then quests and stuff at the bottom. Use BOSS if you're not sure.

ah, ok thanks. I guess I will try unchecking mod-by-mod but it seems odd since this only applies to Oriental, works fine on the other races.

Also that load order is BOSS'd, so I don't know how else to go about it.

what is astridbody.dds from? or supposed to be?

astridbody.dds is used later in the game during the Dark Brotherhood quest line

As DizzasterJuice wrote, it definetly seems one of your mods is pointing to the wrong texture, originally the Astrid body mesh and texture were the only 'nude' variants in Skyrim, so some of the earliest 'nude' mods used that as a base, so it could be an older mod version still pointing incorrectly

Ah that's right forgot about Astrid's little scene. I don't think an old mod is the case because I only very recently got any body changers..

To fix the problem: In nifskope open the problem meshs (the _0 and the _1), select the skin, and make sure BSLightingShaderProperty -- Skyrim Shader Type = 5

If it is set to 5 then it will show the proper skin texture according to race so even if the body tex points to astrid it will still show correctly. My guess is that it is set to 1 which would cause this problem.

thanks I just tried that and it still doesn't work. I noticed the author of Oriental Ashen Race advises to rename the esp from orientalrace.esp to orientalrace-vanilla.esp after changing body types which does indeed make the body appear correctly...but my chars face is now completely gone and the console commands he lists don't work. I am cursed..

Skyrim Mod: burnt skin glitch:

I think I found the source of the burnt skin glitch where some followers get vampire sun-burnt skin repeatedly. Once I removed the mods that were giving me errors in TES5Edit background loading I was able to remove CTD and Memory patch ENBoost mod and when I did it, not only do things look better but I don't have that nasty skin glitch  so far.. I will update this if I find I'm wrong but so far so good.

I will say that this mod did help me manage through the time when I was having terrible lag but with errors gone so is the lag.

Solution (for me at least :D

PS. Found the fix to the burnt skin glitch from Luila on another website. :D

"Go to Skyrim\Data\textures\actors\character\female\ .
Make a copy femalebody_1.dds and put that copy in another folder. Rename it to astridbody.dds and move it back into Skyrim\Data\textures\actors\character\female\ , and overwrite the existing file.
Repeat the process with femalebody_1_msn.dds and astridbody_msn.dds.
(Done? if you've replaced 2 files.)
I think this is a bug that happens when someone edits body meshes in NifSkope and they default to the astridbody.dds texture for some reason. Weird that you have it, but this might solve the fact that it shows up at least. Of course, it might also cause uh, visual weirdness for a few seconds at the end of Dark Brotherhood questline."
