Dubnoman
The PC version is the way to go. A suggestion: If you have the financial means, maybe you should upgrade your laptop soon (in the next several months, perhaps you have to save up for that). If you have been thinking of upgrading and you like to play PC games, starting to save up for that would be a good thing to do.
Stemin
I started off with the PS3 version and logged close to 1000 hours on Skyrim on 3 characters before getting the PC version. The console versions are definitely playable if you have to go that route. If you can run Skyrim on your PC, that's going to be your better option, but Skyrim does require a pretty up to date system. I'm running a slightly older setup... an intel quad core (q6600) processor. I have 16gigs of ram on my system. When I first tried to run Skyrim I was getting all kinds of input lag. It turns out my video card was the weak link. Despite the fact it was less than 6 months old and could still be bought off the shelf at best buy, my 210 verto was just not enough to handle Skyrim. I bought a gtx 550 ti and quickly determined I don't need to play the PS3 version anymore. A note on controls... despite all the complaining, this game was built to be played with a gamepad. If you get the xbox 360 pc controller or setup your PS3 controller with motionjoy to work on your pc you'll be a much happier camper as the game plays awesome. Most of the hardcore PC guys who can't seem to play without WASD and a mouse have been complaining about hotkey issues, etc. I love playing with a controller and I have zero issues with the game. Regarding Mods... at this point in time you're not going to miss much not having them if you go with the consoles. Most of the mods out there are fluff pieces that add armor or followers or a player home that you're gonna probably get bored with after an hour. Somewhere down the line when people release some really good expansion mods, you'll probably want to have the PC version, but out of the box, skyrim will provide you with hours and hours of play before you've seen the whole game. I still discover new areas after 1000 hours. But eventually when you've played it enough you're going to want to have some new content and that's where mods will be nice once they develop some good quests, dungeons, and expansions. The DLC's are expected to start coming in this spring/summer as well, from what I've heard.
SeriousDogg
Only for PC, I got PS3 but I have the game on the PC, Skyrim without mods gets boring after 30 hours of gameplay, with mods you can play forever.
PsxMeUP
I'd get it on PC. Bugs in console games piss you off more because you should expect (and demand) a finished product. With PC there's always the ambiguity that maybe your hardware is causing the bug. And you WILL have bugs on the console version.
xlcr
I have an ignorant question regarding PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Skyrim (i have not owned a console since the vintage Sega lol). Assuming a Steamworks account is required to validate Skyrim on a console (???) and you are legally agreeing to only lease usage of the game from them. Are you allowed to revise/change your lease from a console version to a PC version for free or a minimal fee? I know this question may sound crazy; but, i was just wondering since this is in reality only a single user lease agreement; therefore, you do not own any rights to your copy of Skyrim regardless of what platform you are using. Why would they care if you're running your single user leased rights on a console or PC? Or is it all about the bucks? Does anyone think you should have the contractual option to transfer your single user Skyrim lease account from one platform to another?Just throwing the question out there. I think you know where i am going with this, Sergiovi could lease the PC version, if not happy with it then simply transfer the lease to the console or vice versa.Hypothetically, its not like players can realistically run Skyrim without validation/updates via Steam (exception being perpetual offline mode). I suspect Bethesda/Steamworks/Valve Business Solutions probably nixed anything like transferring a Skyrim lease agreement this way. Steam works activation is not required on Xbox or PS3. There is no activation, you just pop the disc in and play :)

Glhadiator
I got SkyRim for Christmas for the PS3. It nearly killed me to wait until Christmas to play it! I wouldn't have bought a console edition myself but it was a present. Did I enjoy it on the PS3? Hell yes I did! But as has been previously stated it is a very buggy game in vanilla. Be forewarned that the PS3 version actually had the potential to harm your console! (Unsure if that condition still exists since the patches came out) At level 35 I had enough and decided to move to the PC version. I guess mostly because I was missing out on the MODs. They (MODS) make the game playable forever! Just the playthroughs I have lined up as different characters will last until the end of time! And then there are the speciality mods! But mostl of all are the MODS that make SkyRim and all the characters in it look totally AWESOME! If money is your issue then you have a tough choice really. Since you can't do much about upgrades with a laptop you're stuck with pretty much what you have.:wallbash: Still... if you can run it on your laptop I would recommend getting Skyrim for the PC. There are performance and improvement MODS that will make it run very nicely even on a low end PC.I constantly read posts here in the forums from players running Skyrim on some pretty low end machines and I am amazed with all the MODS they have installed and report good performance. Glhadiator
@bben46 "Can only play games ( That is what it is intended to do so that may not be a con)" Actually that isn't true! I bought the PS3 to play blu-ray and watch internet content. Does all of that in top notch HD (plus upscale if you need it). Which in regards to value makes it a pretty good investment. Otherwise bben46's post is by far the best yet to the OP. Mine included
