Container issues

Recommended Posts

hello all, recently, I've done a clean reinstall of Oblivion and finaly got OOO and Qarl TP3 to work, but not without problems. I can handle the small ammounts of lag from Qarl, but I cannot handle the fact that all containers exept sacks are large :excl: s, this is really annoying as it prevents me from getting loot from dungeons and such. I don't know if its Qarl that's causing this or OOO.

Mods I use (in this order):

Oblivion.esm

OOO.esm v1.33

SI.esp

OOO.esp v1.33 (full)

Living Economy.esp

Living Economy - Items.esp

Cutthroat Merchants.esp

OOO-Container Trap Instant Effects.esp

OOO-Magic Script Effect Fix.esp

OOO-Water Weeds.esp

Dreadweave Complete Heavy.esp

Natural Habitat by Max Tael.esp

Natural Vegetation by Max Tael.esp

Natural Water by Max Tael.esp

Natural Weather HDR by Max Tael.esp

Other mods (not .esps):

Qarl TP3 (with patch)

thanx for any help! :thanks:

None of the listed mods, what you are experimenting are textures/meshes files wrong placed.

what could be wrongly placed? I use Obmm and used the OOO and Qarl self extractors to place all the files, how could I find what files were wrongly placed and put them in the right places?

edit:

I've just found that Soul stones have lost both the menu icon and their textures/meshes

Since you report problems just with the containers is appropriate you begin with the part of OOO related to then, I don't know about the OOO-Container Trap Instant Effects.esp, but seems to be a strong candidate. Verify if it doesn't have it's own textures that need to be installed. a common error is placing a folder named Data into the actual Data. Another, more subtle being some mods expects their files into subfolders and not directly placed under Textures or Meshes... and so on. You must read carefully the install instructions why the issue you report is characteristic of missing or misplaced textures/meshes.

Edit: you can try doing an "archive invalidation" on OBMM to force the engine into using textures from the /Data instead the BSA. Since you reinstalled recently, maybe this BSA received a more recent date.

when I deleted the game, I unistalled the folder called "Bethesda Softworks" afterwards, so nothing was left behind, I also checked all the files after your last post, I found the files, and following your advice, did an Archive Invalidation, that however did nothing to help, on any setting. What else can I do?

I hate it when stuff like this happens... :wallbash:

Did you replaced the Oblivion.ini into the C:My Documents...? failing at doing so is cause of headache more often that seems possible.

Be aware ain't telling about your game installation folder.

Edit: disregard this reply I mistake it by another thread, sorry. Yet to your problem the answer is aways the same.. the engine is missing texture files.

So then what should I do? I wnat to keep the mods working, and fix the problem at the same time, it seems that I must reinstall the mods that supply the texture files in order to fix the problem, but would that make my mods not work?

I don't have much experience with mods as you might've noticed...

You can look at your /data folder for another /data inside. You can verify in the original mod arquive if it have folders that must be copied... more than this you need to verify for yourself.

One thing you can try is: load a save game, save it again in another slot, quit the game and reload the last saved, maybe your savegame is doing reference to non existent objects.

Remember OOO have several addons that are optional and meant to be full installed manually.

Edit: regarding Qarl's and Natural environments, they affects the world space, not items.

I checked and re-checked all the folders, nothing seems to be out of place, then again, i have no idea what it's supposed to look like...

They come with OOO itself but are installed only if you want. I think that container trap thing is one of then. reinstalling will not help in this case.
