AlphaWoIF
I have 2 questions i really need answered Please be patient as i am a total noob to both animation files and how bone data work with themQuestion :!1 want to add a dwaf to skyrim but i do not want to make a new skeleton or animations from scratch so i set about scaling some of the the human skeleton bones to fit the mesh like below you can tell from the pink body mesh i scaled the thighs & spine bone down in length & scaled the spine 2 out also.but as soon as i load any animation for it all the bones reset back to there normal scale lengths why is this and is there anyway to lock the skeleton edits in.i would also like to be able to load a werewolf or spriggan slashing claw animation to a human skeleton without the bones all changing sizes like its trying to fit the bone set of the default for that animation and becoming all distorted. possible?http://i50.tinypic.com/nw10rl.jpg question :2 as you can see im creating a witcher mod http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9198and i have got the dual scabbards on the players back but only one sword can be used and the other is a dummy sword. How possible would it be to either move or create a new 1h weapon bone and place it on the back next to the main 2h weapon bone so i could have both swords fully working .please answer if you know as i really need info on these thanks Edited May 15, 2012 by AlphaWoIF
Ghogiel
Firstly, never scale bone in max. If you wish to change their size you should use bone tools. You may as well just create a new rig, all you need to do is create new bones and just use the align tool to.. well align them to their counterparts in what you have in that screenshot, which what will be a broken rig. Secondly, no, animation contains bone transform information, it will just tansform the joints to be exactly where they should be because that's what they kinda do. you need to do something called retargeting animations if you want to transfer existing animations built for one rig to a different rig, ie normal human to dwarf proportioned one. Partly why you want to build a new rig and set it up wtih controllers to be usable for creating animations is that you will probably need to edit every animation somewhat after retargeting anyway. And there is more to this animation system because of behaviour files. Also http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/29853 might be a hack that could be considered more feasible. Assuming it works in skyrim Edited May 16, 2012 by Ghogiel
