Random freezes after few minutes ingame (modded F03)

Hello guys,

 

Recently I have installed and started to mod Fallout 3, based on the 6 years old "Modding Fallout 3" Youtube series by Gopher.

I followed all of his suggestions about load order, I've installed most of the mods out of those 9 Videos and very few additions.

I've done this several times, but everytime I play the game with mods, I run into random freezes after a few minutes of gameplay.

With random I mean, they don't occur at the exact same spot everytime.

Also I am using NMC's Texture Pack performance, HiRes Weapons v3.1, Fallout Reanimated and UIO (instead of the outdated suggestion of Gopher's unified HUD project)

 

By the way, I am using Win10 64bit.

My system specs:

 

- Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X 2GB

- Intel I5 4570 4 x 3,2 - 3,6 GHz

- 8 GB DDR3 RAM

- 1 TB HDD

 

Those are the things I've tried for fixing this issue so far, unsuccessfully:

 

- enabled large address aware (both fose and fallout3 exes)

- installed stutter remover

- several full reinstallments

- using Fake Fullscreen for Fallout 3

- the well known Multicore .ini tweaks

- switching bHookCriticalSelections to 0 in stutter remover ini

- running the game as admin

- running the game in compatibility mode (Win XP SP2)

 

Well, i know there are very many posts like this, but none of the troubleshooting suggestions in those helped in my case, so i just decided to open a new one so i can individually figure out a fix for this with you guys.

Any tips on how i could resolve those freezes are appreciated.

I really cannot enjoy the game in ugly vanilla or with those freezes anymore.

You either do not understand the instructions for using the Paradox Ignition Merged MMM or you do not understand the instructions for using the Blackened patch. I suggest you go back to the respective mod pages and read the instructions again.

 

With Fellout-Full, you do not need the DLC plugins and Fellout-pipboylight needs to load before Fellout-Full.

 

Remove all the unused plugins in your load order. You aren't using them, so they are just taking up space in memory.

 

Did you install the game in the default "Program Files". If so, you need to move it.

 

Did you start and run the game before you added mods? Did you add the mods one at a time and check in the game to ensure they work correctly?

I don't really understand what you want to tell me with this.

I thought, Blackened is like a more updated alternative to the FOIP, so i assumed, that, to make those mods work well together, you need this compatibility patch.

I followed the instructions of the readme inside the Blackened download.

I don't understand what you mean with Paradox Ignition merged MMM.

I forgot to metnion that i did those installs following Gophers video guides. I just replaced FOIP through Blackened.

I looked up Paradox Ignition to find out that this is a merged mod package. I don't even use that mod.

Well, guess i gotta do that more carefully. I did like after 2-3 steps, but probably i never tested long enough to run into a random crash again. will do and report back after.

What I mean to tell you is to go back to the Blackened description page and read the page. You will find this:

Note that, as of version 3.3 of this mod, any and all MMM-related can only be used in conjuction the Paradox Ignition merged version of Marts Mutant Mod. Failure to do so will result in your game crashing on startup.

 

The Paradox Ignition that appears as yellow text is a link to the Paradox Ignition mod page. You must read and understand how to use the merged files.

September 30th 2014 update:

  • Modified all relevant patches to use the Paradox Ignition merged version of
  • Marts Mutant Mod. From now on, any future updates to Blackened will be exclusively compatible with the mergers version of Marts Mutant Mod only.
  • Failure to use the PI merged version of MMM with version 3.3 or newer of these patches will result in your game crashing on startup.

 

 

Well, okay, i just looked up the Paradox Ignition merges and i will switch over to those.

Apart from that, my game never crashed on startup.

Like I said, those video guides are from 2012, i didn't really look up more up-to-date methods of using those mods.

Correct. It was just more beneficial for all parties involved to make the patches rely on merged versions of those mods. Less plugins means less chance for load order conflicts, means more stable game, means more room for other mods.

 

Anyway, just ask if something is unclear.

As before, my testing gameplay consisted of playing the Vault 101 beginning fully, taking a stroll through springvale and then entering Megaton the first time including immideatly defusing the bomb.
Before, when posting this topic, the game would actually crash at some point during still being inside Vault 101 (e.g. saving Butch's mother, opening the Vault door, talking to the teacher before GOAT...).
After more testing and part-after-part installing those mods, I came to the conclusion, that this didn't happen anymore, and the mods seem to be working fine.
I could successfully exit the Vault and reach Megaton without any crashes whatsoever. Some occasional stutters when loading new cells, but i can live with that.
BUT WHAT I DIDN'T DO until this point, was installing Stutter Remover.
As soon as I installed it again, those fast crashes came back. So I am pretty sure, this mod is the reason for my freezes.
This is a big problem for me, because I find the 64 Hz bug to be very annoying and even headache inducing.
Is there any way to FIX the Stutter Remover?
I'd want to avoid slowdowns happening through using iFPS clamp in certain areas.
EDIT:
Setting bHookCriticalSections and it's light variant to 0 didn't help.
