Extreme FPS hit when Sneaking

So I've played well over 200 hours with this character with MGSO (yes, I'm aware it's outdated), MGE and many other mods and experienced no significant problems. But after exploring the latest Tamriel Rebuilt had to offer, putting the game down for a couple months, and coming back I get a massive FPS drop whenever I'm crouched. I'll go from 60fps to 8 in a few seconds, indoor or outdoors with and without distant land on. It's not save related, as reverting to an older save or starting a new character doesn't fix it. I even tried going into the Nvidia control panel and turned all Morrowind's settings to application controlled.

 

I'm really at a loss here. In all my years of playing this game I've never had an issue like this. It could be mod related but I have my doubts it since it was literally fine until I took a break from it, but I'll post my load order for posterity's sake. Has anyone else ever encountered something like this?

That's not one I've heard of before; about all I can think of is a MWSE mod which uses the Sneak key to modify behaviour in some way, and it's that which is causing the slow down.

What version of the latest TR are you using and AFAIK there are two versions, one is vanilla and the other one is HD?

 

My guess is that you're using the TR (HD) version, which could explain why you get an extreme FPS hit while sneaking.

Hey Leonardo. That really makes no sense. Sneaking will just lower the viewpoint camera in the world, the world's still rendered exactly the same (HD or SD textures)

Man, I can just hear some tech support operator asking me "Did you turn it off and on again?" in my head lol.

 

Restarted my PC, Windows applied some updates and now everything is fine. Why? Who knows. The only thing I can think of at this point would be some sort of directx shenanigans, though that theory seems shaky seeing as MW uses such an old version of DX.

 

Oh well. Mystery solved!? :huh:
