LordFlashheart
As title really. I was doing the quest where you get the horn of Jurgen Windcaller for the Greybeards, and am in the lower section of Ustengrav. Initially I noticed something was up when I was down there because lots of the area was missing, and so I'd just fall through the floor randomly - I then decided to turn off all of my mods to see if they were causing the problem, and the walls and so on came back. However now the problem is that at random moments, Skyrim will just CTD - no warning, no nothing, just boom, desktop. As far as I know it can't be any of my mods, since the game loads fine and so on, and I can even play and so on, but as soon as I go in the pause menu and try to swap menus there (e.g. to save, to turn on the 360 controller etc) immediately there's a CTD. .... Maybe I'm just saying it because I'm pissed at the moment, but at times this game can be a complete and utter joke - random scripts don't work, random things dont load, random CTDs etc... if they can't release a game that's free of bugs and whatnot then they shouldn't make 'em in the first place... Rant over - any idea on what's wrong? I've heard a bit of rumblings about a new patch or something that's been released, or could it be one of my mods that's affecting it even though I turned 'em all off (but didn't uninstall 'em) when I went back on...or is Ustengrav just a buggy place?... EDIT: I've done a bit more looking at it, and it seems to CTD whenever I go onto the pause menu and swap over to another part (e.g saves, quests etc). Hope that helps in working out what's wrong... I might just re-install to be honest...will that delete my save files if I don't back 'em up? Cheers. Cheers. from mods, the game can load fine, but still cause several problems. 1.stop all background programs or decrease to minimum.2.many house and new settlement mods arent compatible with each other, for example, levelers tower HATES all other house mods.3.warzones-civil unrest causes often crashes near some of its battles, and many players, just like you, report that some dungeons and similiar interior have no floor, so you basicly fall through it, but, if you have warzones, dont unistall or disable it (you will orphan the scripts). in comments, you will se a way to disable it using console commands, without harming the scripts.4.restart your PC, its the most reliable way to fix bugs.5.some mods dont work with some patches, or they are made specificly for a certain patch. check the readme-s.6.list us all your mods, we may detect something incompatible. LordFlashheart
Cheers :) I'll get to it in the morning (listing my mods) - btw, since there are a lot of them, any suggestions on doing it quickly without typing all of them out? (typing 100 or so mods don't seem like fun...). The thing I don't get is my game was running perfectly fine before I went into that damn tomb, and more specifically the lower part of it too... after that (when I turned off my mods) the menu system frigged up... LordFlashheart
Right, I've gone an re-installed my Skyrim game, and am having exactly the same issues as before. One thing of note, it only seems to be on the save files of my current game, I use Live Another Life and have a pre-set save there where I just re-make my character and change the name using console commands, and that one is working fine, but it just seems to be my current game that's having trouble, specifically after I entered the Ustengrav Depths... Also, here's my load order, I print-screened the images in 3 parts since there's a lot of mods, but if it's unclear and you want me to have another go then let me know Load order part 1 http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j386/ABigRedMonster/loadordera.png Load Order Part 2 http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j386/ABigRedMonster/loadorderb.png Load Order Part 3 http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j386/ABigRedMonster/loadorderc.png I say again that the first thing I noticed was wrong was that parts of the Ustengrav depths weren't loading and so I fell through the floor - even at that point I wasn't experiencing CTD when I went on the pause menu, I then thought one of my mods was causing it, and so turned the game off, disabled (but didn't uninstall) all of my mods, and re-loaded the game, only to find that while Ustangrav had loaded again, I was now experiencing the current problem of CTD when I go on to other parts of the pause menu. This problem seems to be on every one of my named files (even auto-saves) of my main game - I even loaded/restored an auto-save from a good while before the Ustengrav quest, to have exactly the same problem. Borborygmus
sorry to necro, you may have to manually detete the /data folder and readd mods one by one when doing a reinstall, just to be completely clean. i'm not sure if you are still having your issue. I am having the same problem, and i just added skyrim monster mod, and the mod spawnrate increaser(forget the name). it was working fine, until i logged back in mid-dungeon and could no longer exit without ctd. still not sure how to progress. i have removed both mods and the problem persists, even earlier saves that i attempt still end up with me being trapped in the dungeon. and yes, random parts of the cell are missing, though sometimes not.
