Problems with MGE Distant Lands

Hello all!

I've just done a clean install of Morrowind GOTY edition from GOG (and I'm on Windows 10), and placed the files for MGE 3.8.0 as they ought to be in the folders. Everything in MGE works fine but Distant Lands. I can get through the whole generation process fine, but when I start the game I get a thousand error messages. Distant Lands works past that point, but I fear how much in the game might be broken! How can I get all these error messages resolved? They're all so different!

Note, the reason I did a clean install is because I couldn't get it to work on my old one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

UPDATE: The error messages appear to have something to do with my save game files. All but one went away when I installed the two other small mods I had been using in the save. This is strange, because I tried this before and it didn't work. But now I'm still left with an error message: global script "GaenorTimer" couldn't load.

GaenorTimer is a script in Tribunal, so it could be an a load order issue with Patch for Purists.esm loading before Tribunal.esm

Try downloading mlox

You'll need to add rules for Patch for Purists (I never added them in and my updating of the mlox rule set is on an indefinite hiatus):

Create a new text file in the root of the mlox directory (Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\mlox), call it "mlox_user.txt"

Add the following text:

[Order]

Morrowind.esm

Tribunal.esm

Bloodmoon.esm

Patch for Purists.esm

Save and run mlox, remember to apply its suggested load order

These can be ignored:

Texture "Textures\_land_default.tga" count 3.

Texture "Textures\Tx_sand_02.tga" count 3.

Texture "Textures\menu_thick_border_bottom_right_corner.dds" count 2.

These are generated when Morrowind is closing down. It is a list of textures that haven't been cleaned up correctly by the engine, along with the number of loose references remaining.

I'll definitely take a look at mlox, thanks! It looks like it could be very useful.

...though I should add that the warning has disappeared upon creating a new save. Strange. It doesn't show up when loading that save, and Gaenor is waiting for me just as he should be (and cleaning the floor with me).
