cumbrianlad
Hi. I hope somebody can point me in the right direction here. I've never before edited vanilla Dwemer ruins cells before now. I can't open any Dwemer interior cell in the render window without CK crashing with no warning after 15 minutes. It doesn't freeze, bring up the dreaded 'not responding' warning... it just crashes to desktop. I can edit other interior vanilla cells with no crashes. I can edit my own cells with no crashes. The same applies to exterior cells: all of them can be viewed or edited with no crash, for any length of time, even hours. Here's what I've tried... I opened my esp in SSEedit but couldn't see any problems relating to dwemer ruins, in fact all except Bthardamz are not in my esp. I opened CK without my mod loaded with the same result. CK crashes after 15 minutes with dwemer interior cells open in the render window, so I can't see that my mod is doing anything detrimental. I've checked my local Skyrim SE files in steam but none needed to be replaced. I've checked my masters in SSEedit but they were still clean. I've looked at my creationkit.ini and it didn't have Dawnguaurd.bsa, Hearthfires.bsa and Dragonborn.bsa added into the archive section. I added them and it made no difference. Has anybody had this problem and know how to fix it? It's incredibly frustrating having CK crashing every 15 minutes because I can only do around 12 minutes of work, save, exit CK and load it up again. I could alter my mod so that I didn't have to edit dwemer interiors but that would completely mess with the entire plot.
thumbincubation
Open up Windows notepad, add this line [Audio]bEnableAudio=0 then save it as CreationKitCustom.ini You will have to manually insert the .ini, or it will save as a default file and won't work. Turning off the audio helps prevent a whole lot of creation kit crashes, though I can't say if it will specifically help with the Dwemer ruin problem. Hopefully it will, but if not then you know there's some other problem. The down side of this is that, when you are ready to close the CK, it will hang for a few minutes and you'll have to wait it out and force close, or use your task manager to close. Kind of a pain, but a lot less headache than having it crash constantly. Creation kit does love to crash.
TheWilloughbian
Are you using any texture mods?
cumbrianlad
Thanks for the replies. I already have the [Audioi] and bEnableAudio=0 lines in my creationkit.ini file but I just added them by editing the original and saving the changes without renaming. I assume that will work the same? Sorry, I missed that off the things I've tried because it was already in. I have UNP female body renewal and static mesh improvement. I also have hair replacer. my other mods are mainly quests and player homes. My own esp uses texture sets on some custom banners and a unique dwarven armour set. I have nifs for a sign, an ingot, a piece of ore and an ore vein, using my own edited diffuse maps but all of these are applied to new objects rather than replacing an original. All of them work fine in game. Could there be an issue with any of that? Last night I tried something Darkfox127 suggests by saving the esp as soon as it's loaded before doing anything else. That appeared to work but today it crashed in just over 15 minutes again after doing the same thing. I'm going to try reloading SSEedit and see if that works. I've also just noticed that in the old SkyrimEditor.ini, the archive section has bUseArchives=1, whereas creationkit.ini has bUseArchives=0. I don't know what difference that could make.
