weremensh
I get sporadic system crashes which always blame that sound driver file; which now include any attempt to start a new game (right after the slideshow, after one to two seconds of loading) whether with or without mods. Updating to the most recent Sound Blaster drivers didn't help, getting Steam to check my game cache didn't help, making sure I've got the newest steam client and Fallout NV version didn't help. Now granted I run the game on XP-64; so I'm wondering if this is just a matter of the game being less than perfectly compatible with my OS; or if there's some sound card related issue at work. Assuming anyone knows, of course.
luthienanarion
Your OS version is irrelevant as far as Fallout is concerned. I've run Fallout 3 on every version of Windows from XP (x86) to Windows 8 (x64) and New Vegas on most of those. The 64-bit version of XP is horrible for finding good drivers for peripheral hardware, since 64-bit desktops weren't common until Vista. If you can't find any decent drivers for that card, try disabling it or removing it from your system.
BigBodZod
I no longer use Windows XP Pro x64-bit Edition for my gaming but now use Windows 7 Pro x64-bit Edition instead. Previously I never had issues with my X-Fi cards, currently using the X-Fi Titanium PCIe model. Also, sometimes using one of the BETA releases from Creative will help resolve some gaming issues. Maybe look for the PAX alternate drivers on the Hardware Heaven site.
