ExistentialPreston
I reinstalled Fallout 4 after a year. It used to run without any problems then. But now it has started freezing after 20 mins, exactly 20 mins. I have tried everything. Fresh install, fresh save, ran as administrator, everything but to no avail. I have to sign out my windows session to exit the game after it locks up. I ran it with performance monitor and everything is normal. Also, the radio if on finishes the song playing even though the screen is stuck. It's 20 mins exactly. Any help would be appreciated. All DLCs updated to latest. Windows 10 latest build.PC Specs: 6700K, 980Ti, 2 x 8GB RAM.

ExistentialPreston
With and without mods. Most interesting thing about it is that it freezes at exactly 20 mins.
jones177
Hi Factory overclocks can freeze your game. If you use a Nvidia partner card, set to debug mode. On ASUS z170 to z370 motherboards turn multicore enhancement off. CPU overheating can be a timed event as well. Even though I have a i7 8700k & a Maximus X Hero motherboard Fallout 4 dose not allow me to overclock it. It will freeze. All I can do is use XMP. It is a pity, I did win the silicon lottery. Optimize Windows for gaming. You never know. Good luck.
ExistentialPreston
Tried factory clocks, Enabled/Disabled XMP. Still freezing. Ran Fallout performance monitor a few times. My system isn't overheating.
BigDeejay
delete the .ini files from the "Documents \ My Games \ Fallout4" directory start the game again and it will re-create these files. Make sure this works.
ExistentialPreston
Treid it before. Freezing is persistent at 20 minutes.
JimmyRJump
Check anti-virus scanners or some other software that kicks in in the background. Have a look at your logs (Administrative Tools/Event Logs) to see what caused the freeze. The latter won't always point at the real culprit, mind, because often an error is the result of a cascade of earlier glitches and only the last one that causes the actual error will show. But it's an indication of what went down.
