Seeking for voice actors for Knights of the Nine: Revelation! If you haven't heard about this mod yet, it's an unofficial sequel to the DLC Knights of the Nine. It consists of an epic main quest (much larger than the original Knights of the Nine), a number of side quests, a recreation of a part of Tamriel as it was 4000 years in the past, hundreds of new items, a massive player home and expands the Knights of the Nine faction into an entire army. There is a WIP Thread and Gallery that has been documenting the mod's development since its conception.

 

There are handful of a major roles and lots of smaller ones, so whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner, there's something there for you.

 

What You'll Need

You'll need your own voice recording equipment. At minimum, this means a reasonable quality microphone. The software needed is available for free and is easy to learn. There are great tutorials at TES Alliance and the CS Wiki.

 

You'll need to be able to deliver loud and clear speech and record it clearly. Some roles will require a certain amount of acting ability while others won't. As this mod is set in Tamriel and features chivalric Knights, I prefer voice actors with either a fairly neutral or a British accent. Other European accents may also be suitable provided they are not excessively strong.

 

How to Audition

 

1. Either pick roles whose description you think you're suited for, or pick a few at random. I'll choose the most suitable voice actor for each role.
   
2. Feel free to audition for as many roles as you like: you can always turn some of them down if you get selected for too many.
   
3. Make a recording of the sample dialogue. It should be of the same quality as the final product.
   
4. If you can perform in multiple voices/accents, feel free to send different versions.
   
5. If you have an account at TESA, you can attach your recording to a private message there. Otherwise, you can message me for my email address and you can email it to me.
   
6. Please let me know...
   • Would you be interested roles other than the ones you apply for?
     
   • Would you be interested in doing more than one role?
     
   • Even if you don't get one of the larger roles, would you want one of the small roles just for the voice acting credit?

Starring Roles

 

Queen Alessia

Gender: Female

Race: Imperial

Lines: 161

Emotional Range: Medium-High

The Queen of all free humans in 1E 243 and leader of the slave rebellion. A very strong leader, authoritative enough to boss around the likes of Pelinal Whitestrake but also shows compassion when needed. Sample dialogue:

 

(Authoritative) I've summoned you all here today for a mission of utmost importance.

(Pep talk) Your successes today will ensure our victory. Go now, and may the Eight watch and guide you along the way.

(Empathetic) The ashen look on your face tells me that something terrible has transpired. Please tell me what happened.

 

 

Naomi

Gender: Female

Race: Imperial

Lines: 122

Emotional Range: High

One of the major characters and companion to the Divine Crusader for much of the questline. She is young, attractive and flirty, designed to give the male players of the mod a crush. But she is definitely not a tart and shows wisdom beyond her years. Sample dialogue:

 

(Surprise) Lord Crusader! What in the Nines are you doing here?

(Sad) Please stay safe... and remember, I l... I'll be waiting here for you.

(Excited) Lord Crusader! I knew you would eventually end up here!

(Flirty) See you again soon Lord Crusader. Try not to miss me too much okay?

 

 

 

Sir Gareth

Gender: Male

Race: Imperial

Lines: 123

Emotional Range: Medium-High

A noble Paladin who accompanies the Divine Crusader in his/her quests. Will be voiced by Lanceor. No auditions needed. ;)

Pelinal Whitestrake

Gender: Male

Race: Nord

Lines: 39

Emotional Range: Medium

The legendary warrior of the first era. Rather arrogant and hot tempered. Is seriously injured late in the mod (those who have read "The Song of Pelinal" will know how.). Sample dialogue:

 

(Arrogant) But I can tell you now that they're not fond of silly little mortals with delusions of grandeur.

(Critically injured) Curse those Ayleids and their descendants for all eternity! Look what they've done to me!

 

 

Morihaus

Gender: Male

Race: Winged Bull (presumably a deep voice with heavy breathing)

Lines: 23

Emotional Range: Low

A demi-god who is actually a winged bull. Despite his fearsome appearance, his demeanour is pleasant and polite. Sample dialogue:

 

(General) It is both an honour and a marvel to receive a visitor from another era.

 

 

The Eight Divines

Gender: 5 Male and 3 Females

Race: Various

Lines: 4

Emotional Range: Low

The Eight Divines speak to the player in once scene. Eight voices will need to be spoken in sync with each other. I'll provide the first as a guide. Sample dialogue:

 

You hail the Eight while bearing a demi-god's weapons and armour, yet you are but a mortal.

 

 

Sir Thedret

Gender: Male

Race: Redguard

Lines: 129

Emotional Range: Low-Medium

One of the eight original Knights of the Nine and a major mouthpiece for the questline. Sample dialogue:

 

(General) Sir, all our Knights have been accounted for. There were a number of cuts and burns, but no serious injuries to report.

(Incredulous) Although I was powerless to help, I saw everything with my own eyes. Even then, I'm still finding it hard to believe what just happened.

 

 

Alessian Soldier at Gate

Gender: Male

Race: Imperial

Lines: 20

Emotional Range: Medium

A soldier who just witnessed a massacre. Sample dialogue:

 

(Desperate) Captain Gaius! Are you still alive? Open the gate so we can help!

(General) They'll be able to send reinforcements which I think we'll definitely be needing now.

 

 

Dreekius

Gender: Male

Race: Argonian

Lines: 25

Emotional Range: Medium

An Argonian Knight of the Nine. Initially awed to meet the Divine Crusader. Sample dialogue:

 

(In awe) I can't believe it! You've actually returned just like they said you would! The others will be so relieved to hear this!

(General) Sir Thedret sent me here to find you and there's much important news that I need to share with you.

 

 

 

Ovidius

Gender: Male

Race: Imperial

Lines: 17

Emotional Range: Medium

A slave who has just escaped and is therefore afraid of being caught. Serves as a "mouthpiece" character. Sample dialogue:

 

(Glad) Thank the Eight, a human face! You must be part of the rebellion!

(Fearful) Don't hurt me master! I wasn't escaping! I was only running away from the fighting!

 

 

Vulcanus

Gender: Male

Race: Imperial

Lines: 65

Emotional Range: Low-Medium

A blacksmith and former adventurer who wishes to stay far away from the war. Has a couple of angry lines after an intimidation attempt. Sample dialogue:

 

(General) You must be mistaken my friend. I gave up the adventuring life long ago and I no longer create instruments of war.

(Angry )Or else what? Are you trying to threaten me? I've been dealing with you honestly and this is how you repay me?

 

 

Malenir

Gender: Male

Race: Ayleid (High Elf)

Lines: 27

Emotional Range: Low

An Ayleid mage. Polite with a hint of contempt. Supposed to be an ally, but is he really? Sample dialogue:

 

Well don't take too long. There are other tasks that Queen Alessia has assigned to me.

 

 

Slave

Gender: Male

Race: Imperial

Lines: 12

Emotional Range: Medium

One of many slaves encountered throughout Cyrod. The live in fear of torment by their Ayleid masters, greatly desire freedom, and are afraid of being caught once freed. Sample dialogue:

An alchemist with a lot of topics about different alchemical ingredients. No particular emotions, but his dialogue is quite repetitive. Sample dialogue:

 

(General) Please give me one moment while I gather all the ingredients known to have the Burden effect.

(General) Please give me one moment while I gather all the ingredients known to have the Chameleon effect.

 

 

Valerius

Gender: Male

Race: Imperial

A castle steward who helps his lord/lady with various aspects of the castle's upkeep. Sample dialogue:

 

The cost is 5,000 septims and it will take two days for it to be assembled and calibrated. Would you like to order it now?

I've been voice acting a lot lately for Vanilla Drops, and I can do a few different styled characters. I'll see if I can't get something ready for you this weekend on 4shared.

 

Also, if you become desperate enough for female vocals I can show you a way to pitch shift a male's vocals into an extremely convincing (and thus scary when you think about it) female voice. It does require a $100 piece of software and the sound comes out a little bit "tinny" but you can adjust that in a post-processing program like Audacity, Audition, or Soundbooth. It worked perfectly for me since I was mostly voicing female ghosts and supernatural things like Daedra.

That software sounds interesting! I hope it doesn't come down to requiring it though... But then again, it might be hard to get the voices for the Eight Divines in sync, so perhaps it will have a use. :)

 

Auditions have been trickling in - I've had a couple from Nexus and a few from TESA and the Voice Acting Club. Some of the voice talent out there is very good! There are a lot of roles available and I won't decide on who gets what role until the deadline, so anybody interested is welcome to give it a shot.

Actually I had some time tonight so I went ahead and knocked a bunch out for ya.

 

See which ones you like. I was using a shifter to change the timbre and pitch of my voice... I did try my hand at Pelinal... but the voice actor that did his voice in vanilla KoN has such a unique voice I couldn't match it so I gave up on that.

 

But I did do a ton of other ones :P

Just a quick reminder for those who are still thinking about auditioning - there's only five days until the deadline, which makes this the final weekend!

 

There's many roles available, including some that only require reading without any acting ability whatsoever. If you can make a clear recording of your voice and don't have a strong accent then you'll probably end up with a part. :)

Hmmm that's odd. It sounds like the browser is unable to render the forum's dynamic HTML. It's known that the forum doesn't support IE7 and probably other older browsers as well. Just a quick note to say that there's only two days remaining for auditions. To be fair to everyone, I won't make any casting decisions until the deadline, so anyone sending in a last minute audition has the same chance as everyone else to score the major parts.

 

Knights of the Nine: Revelation is shaping up to be THE Oblivion mod of 2012, so if you want your name in the credits, you'd better get moving. :)
