Tekmon
Hello again, I've just installed Oblivion on my ACER laptop. When ever I start a new game, after the emperor video, my game instantly crashes. I currently have SI and the latest patches installed for oblivion. I have no mods currently loaded, no OBSE, or anything like that. Here are my system specs OS: Vista 32-bitProcessor: AMD turion64X2 1.90 GHZGraphics card: Nvidia Geforce 7000mRam: 2GBModel #: Aspire 5520-5912Sound card: RealTEK HD audio I've looked on Oblivion tech support, and the website clearly stated that my Graphics card was compatible. I've tried alternate starts, lowest possible Graphics settings, nothing seems to work. I really hope someone can help me out on this one.
Tekmon
It appears to crash in game, hence, when ever 3D is present. I wonder why it would do this...
Storm Raven
Tekmon, OS: Vista 32-bit could be the source of your problems. On Vista Oblivion asked to be installed very carefully. Despite what you may have heard. So far, my understanding is the best way to install it, is to create a separate directory as in C:\games\oblivion. When Oblivion asks you where you want to install the game you have the option of changing the directory. So then change it to the directory you have created. You will need to remember that this is where you have installed Oblivion when you go to install mods. Next Oblivion should install just fine, putting the shortcuts on your desktop. You will need to go in to the shortcut properties and set them to always run as administrator. If this does not solve your problem. Let me know, because with Vista. There are a lot of differences in how it installs software. It puts things in different places, automatically, making them very difficult for Oblivion to find them. I will be happy to help you in any way I can. There are other ways to solve this problem, but some of them create more problems for Vista and other software. This way, isolates Oblivion into its own directory away from the programs directory, and so avoids many potential conflicts. You may be told. Just turn off the administrative function, but that can foul up other software on your system, which expects it to be operational. I will try to keep an eye on this topic, as there may be other things unrelated to Vista, that could be causing this. But let's start with first things first. Storm Raven Thanks for your help storm raven, so basicly all I have to do is uninstall obilvion, and re-install in my own directory, that is very simple. I'll begin working right away. Once again, thanks for your help.
Storm Raven
Don't forget to set the shortcuts on your desktop by right clicking them and selecting properties to Run As Administrator or you will have problems. In some cases, you have to actually go to the file that the short cut points to and make the changes there. I work with Vista Ultimate 64 bit. So it's even harder. Storm Raven
Okay, I'm going to need some more detailed specifications on the hardware that you're using. It looks like you have enough memory or Ram, but the truth is. I'm not familiar with the Athlon processors. 1.9 GHz, does seem not fast enough to me but like I said the Athlon processors are not my area of expertise. I will need a detailed list of your hardware for the purposes of checking compatibility. Or possibly conflicts. I understand that you have been told that your video card is compatible. But go ahead and give me as many specifics on that as you can. My video card is compatible, but it will barely run Oblivion. It's at the very bottom of the list of compatible cards. I say that because I work with multiple computers. One system runs dual NVIDIA cards but the older system uses an ATI 850 Pro. That's the one that's at the bottom of the list of compatible video cards. Are you running the latest video drivers for your video card? You will need to check the OEM site to be sure. Sorry to ask, but there is so much hardware out there. I can no longer keep up with all of it. There was a time, but that was many years ago. Am I correct in assuming you are using a laptop? I will need a detailed list of your hardware for the purposes of checking compatibility. Or possibly conflicts. This is plain vanilla Oblivion correct? Have you installed any patches of any kind? If so which ones and in what order? Storm Raven 8) EDIT: working Hmm, let me take a look... The model # is my laptop type, an ACER Aspire 5520.Looking at my processors, I have 2 of the same, so I'd say my Processing power is 1.97 times two.My CD drive is a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K17RS ATA deviceOf course, my first post here was all of my other hardware. Yes, its vanilla oblivion, no betas or anything... The only patch I have installed, is the latest SI patch...I have just the oblivion master file loaded, no mods or anything. If you need anymore info, I'll see what I can find.

Thank You, Storm Raven 8) Oh.. Looking at it, I looked on Nvidia's official website, and in order to update my drivers, I have to go in ACER's offical website, and download "GPU" Drivers, and every time I try to load the drivers download page on ACER's website, it never loads... I apologize for not noticing you note there.
