legacy3265
I recently deciced to reload Oblivion on to my Computer and I found that, after AI had finished patching the game to the max, my ground texture(outside) was that of a map of Cyrodil. I traced this back to being one of my patches, after about 150 mods I loaded , it being Patch V1.2.416. So what I do is I reload Oblivion, Patch it to v1.1.511 and try out the game. It works fine. There are no problems at all. I make a back up and then I try the V1.2 patch. It goes up to 13% then an error comes up stating that it could find a file with the same name but the contents are different. From what I remember, the file is the texture.bsa file in the data directory. Now for some or other reason, I cannot get this to work. I have looked on numerous sites for answers, including this one, but I just can't find something that helps me with my specific problem. If anyone has any advice at all. Please share Thanx! Varus Torvyn
If you have Shivering Isles installed, use the SI 1.2.0416 patch. Also, make sure you're matching up the right language, as UK & U.S. are not the same.

Please share Thanx! ive had this problem before. I downloaded the US version of the patch instead of the European one. On the official website i saw "Oblivion_v1.2.0416English.exe(5.1 MB) 04/30/2007" and assumed it was the correct one since it said english. I failed to notice "This patch is for North American (English) versions." underneath it. It caused exactly the same problem you stated. I downloaded the "UK/Europe/Australia" version instead and it was fine.
Storm Raven
Also be careful not to install the Oblivion V1.2.416 if you are installing Shivering Isles. As has been mentioned, you only want to run only the SI 1.2.0416 patch in that case. If you try to install both patches, you will get an error that will cause the Shivering Isles patch to abort. And then you have to start all over from scratch. I had to learn that the hard way. I hope you don't. Good Luck, Storm Raven 8)

Thus, if your game's language is UK/Europe/Australia then you match the patch.

MotoSxorpio
Remove the entry for Shivering Isles in the DLCList.txt Located in your Data folder. This isn't removed when uninstalled.

bben46
Thread Necromancy. This one is several years old. However a simple fix for the tiny purple maps of the Imperial city replacing land surfaces was found not long after. Purple ground with repeating tiny maps of the Imperial City This is caused by corupted shaders. Here is a link to replace them without having to reinstallhttp://www.tesnexus....le.php?id=20348 Thanks to Qwaxalot for this tip If you still have a problem, please make a new topic.
