Need a short FCOM advise

Hi there,

 

Oblivion spits once more in my face :(

I decided to purchase the whole package of Obliviion, so I buyed KotN and SI.

I also wanted to try this fancy compilation called FCOM.

The last time I fought with this game and it's stability, I won.

This time... CTD's after the Intro...

 

So I need help. There's something wrong, but I can't figure out what.

It's now 0:23 am in Germany and I must get up at ~6 am... so I'm a bit pissed of atm, but still gratefull for help.

What could cause this crash? :(

Crashing even before entering the Hauptmenü is a result of missing or wrong installed esm's or esp's.

But I don't know which one .___.

 

PS: Now it's 0:31 am...

Would be great if there could someone help until my work is over and I'm home again (in ~18 hours from now on) :(

Remove "Mart's Monster Mod for OOO.esm" it is conflicting with Mart's Monster Mod.esm and FCOM

Everything else seems pretty good, very simmilar to my setup

 

You can get the MOBS versions of the unofficial patches by searching TESNEXUS for "Patches for Frans 4_5b" (not needed for game to work though)

I just hit the launcher(s), then the screen turns black for one or two seconds and then: Hello desktop :mellow:

If I'm lucky, I'll see the Intro for one or two frames before the crashing :(

So could it be the changed main menu graphics/the changed Intro videos?

If so: How do I disable them (something in the ini I know, but what exactly?)

Since you mentioned reinstall ... Note reinstalling doesn't "refresh" the Oblivion.ini file nor the /data folder contents. Just as a first try backup the C:\My Documents\....\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini copy the Oblivion_defaults.ini from the install folder overwriting that Oblivion.ini (delete it and rename the former) and try again.

 

Edit: that procedure can overlap some changes introduced by mods, but some, as the Streamline will redo what it changed.

Damn, I don't want to install the whole game AGAIN... (espeacially FCOM...)

 

I disabled ALL movies/intros in the oblivion.ini and now I I see the loading-screen for the half of a second...

Typically when the game crashes immediately like it is for you it is a problem with loading the ESM's then the ESP's. With FCOM installed the ESM's look for certian ESP's to be present and if they arn't the game will instantly crash. I'll upload my FCOMhelper.txt file for you to look at when I go home for lunch today.

 

 

:rolleyes: Hmmm just noticed that you are making it to the loading screen, this means that you have gotten through your ESMs and the game is loading the ESP's, I'd try to get a stable FCOM setup running (nothing else) then start adding other mods.

 

 

When ever I have reinstalled my game I install the core game files, then the official patches, then the unofficial patches, then Warcry, then Fran's, then MMM, then OOO, then FCOM. Their are alot of ADD-ON files for MMM, OOO, and FCOM and making sure you have all the correct ones installed can be tricky. At this point I usually try to run the game. If every thing is working ok, I add other mods that require FCOM support like Exnem-Rune skulls and activate the coresponding FCOM support files, etc... and test game again, then I keep adding files in similar groups (magic mods, landscape mods, etc..) until I have everything installed again.

So it's indeed a esm or esp problem

 

My wild guess are these two files (see the right entry under "Masterfiles"/"Masterdateien"):

This is the only red entry in Wyre Bash, so it has to be the cause (at least, I hope so) - would fit perfectly in your description o.o

Since Fran's is only an installer, it's a bit hard to extract just those two files.

Whew I think we have got it, reinstall Fran's and there will be an option that says "Do you wish to merege optional file groups into a single file?" say NO and continue with the installation.

 

When you run FCOMhelper it will tell you to delete or replace alot of the Fran's files with FCOM ones, after you do this you should be all set.

Well, indeed, FCOM runs now :)

But I'Ve now another odd problem: Every lootable container has now "WTF!? I'm a..."

So I have no containers atm in the game >__>

Sometimes... I hate Oblivion...

Harvest containers is deactivated (actually I don't even know where this esp comes from)

Any idea what's wrong this time? :(

I reinstalled Harvest Containers (hoped it would help for the meshes), but it didn't help.

Seems to be a problem with the folder structure.

The HC esp is disabled, playing without any mods brings the containers back as usual.

So it's either a folder structure problem or something with the esp's.
