aaronjreeves
Im having the same issue.... every time i exit to desktop a different problem happens, sometimes it freezes up on the "brownish" view that comes up in the back ground when you hit esc, sometimes it just stays black, sometimes i can see my task bar but thats it, and for all of those i have to ctrl+alt+del to fix... nosisab
This is an annoyance almost impossible to solve. The issue is related the way the engine tries to free the memory used and can't because the part being released is necessary by another yet loaded and/or something of the kind. Technically this is known as deadlock. It's an issue that directly depends on the loaded mods, the order they were loaded and so on. Believe me, this is the kind of annoyance that solving is more work than is worthy. Since it seems not causing problems other than annoying me I learned to survive with :) Edit: what turns the issue problematic to resolve is we can't be sure the order the things will be released and even what is present when quiting the game. Edit 2: Since this is directly related with so many factors, conflicting mods parts being the main source of the problem, it's nothing even Bethesda can or wish to deal. Indeed this is something they even can't unless shutting it down.
aaronjreeves
Is there any type of 3rd-party program that simulates a ctrl+alt+del+close program command? for instance a program that we could bind to scroll lock that would completely shut down oblivion via windows? I tried googling it but im bad at such things.

dra6o0n
I think it is most definitely have something to do with the custom mods, as those who doesn't use any mods may not even get this problem...
billypnats
one annoyance is that you can't save you're game settings as oblivion crashes before it can save them. but saveini always fixes this =)
