capella6707
I had to reinstall everything and after installing Vortex I forgot to change my download path. I need to move the download path to a network drive to save space on my main drive. Can I change the download path while in the middle of installing mods without messing anything up? Tannin42
Yes, when you change the download path in vortex it will automatically move all the files you have already, you shouldn't have to do anything special. I will say however that network drives tend to be problematic on Windows, they have ever so slightly different characteristics. For your download directory that shouldn't be a problem, for your mods directory I wouldn't use a network drive though.
capella6707
Thanks, Tannin. Yes, I'm just using the network drive for downloads.
capella6707
I changed the folder no problem. I also have a bunch of downloaded mods that I had in a backup directory. They are mods that I had previously downloaded via Vortex from the Nexus site, so they were in a Vortex download directory before. I thought I'd try to move those other mod archives to the current Vortex download directory but some odd things happened. I copied the archive files to the download directory with Vortex closed, thinking it would read the directory and "register" those as well. Here's what I found: To test, I just moved an archive that I had already installed using Vortex and a mod that I had not yet installed. Upon opening Vortex and going to the Mods tab here is what is shown http://www.eventidewebdesign.com/public/Mods%20tab%20showing%20mods%20added%20to%20downloads%20directory.png The Engine Fixes is the one that I had already installed with Vortex and Elemental Eyes I had not. Here is what is shown when I click on the down arrow for Engine Fixes:http://www.eventidewebdesign.com/public/Dropbox%20in%20Version%20column%20for%20Engine%20Fixes.png Clicking on the top minus symbol gives me this message:http://www.eventidewebdesign.com/public/Message%20for%20Top%20Minus%20Sign%20for%20Engine%20Fixes.png Clicking on the bottom minus symbol shows me something similar:http://www.eventidewebdesign.com/public/Message%20for%20Bottom%20Minus%20Sign%20for%20Engine%20Fixes.png And this is what I see when I click on either minus symbol for Elemental Eyes (which I have not yet installed):http://www.eventidewebdesign.com/public/Elemental%20Eyes%20Message%20for%20both%20minus%20signs.png I was especially surprised getting two minus symbols for the mod that I had not yet installed. My expectation was that upon Vortex starting it would check the downloads directory and bounce what is there against what it knew was there the last time it ran and then list mod archives appropriately (a dropdown for different versions of the same mod, or just list the uninstalled mod if it's never been there before). Is this expected behavior, a bug? Enlighten me please! :)
