Hi I don't know where to post this I thought about posting it in the mod request but then thought people would complain that's a more of a technical question so I'm posting it here.

I've looked for a mod that limits how many game saves it creates but I cant find one,
I have found a save limiter mod for fallout: new Vegas but not fall out 4.

What i mean is ive just deleted a bunch of old game saves keeping the most recent one in the hope my game will load abit quicker and reduce stuttering then i got to wondering if theres a way to stop the game creating so many game saves then maybe my game will work as it should.

The problems im having is seriously long laggy loading screens during starting the game up and while on missions that require me to enter a building that gives a loading screen and the occasional freeze which fixes its self after a few seconds.

I'm playing the game on med to high gfx settings it plays at 60FPS. not using any graphics mods. I got a character mod and building mods such as homemaker wireless power settlement item and height limits etc nothing too heavy. gpu driver is up to date.

Whilst in-game, pause to open up the menu, go to settings and switch off auto saving, saving on sleep and saving on fast travel. You'll have to remember to manually save your game from there onwards, but that will reduce the number of saves being made. Alternatively, if you want to keep save-files you can simply go into Documents/MyGames/Fallout4/Saves and simply cut/paste them to another drive as back-ups (this also fixes the game attempting to read all the save files when it first boots up to the main menu, so can reduce lag/stutter that sometimes occur when you have a lot of save files stored)

That you mention laggy loading screens whilst going into/out of interior locations is somewhat troubling, as the number of save files you have doesn't make a difference here. Make sure the drive that Fallout4 is installed on isn't defragmented, and that it's also got plenty of free space available. Secondly, make sure that you have as few apps running in the background as possible whilst you play (for example, anti-virus/anti-malware software that can hog system resources, or things like Steam overlay etc) Basically, if you don't need it running whilst you're playing Fallout4, close it.

You can limit saves in the game's settings, so the game doesn't make autosaves or saves when fast-travelling or sleeping. The amount of saves in the savegames folder has little to no influence on how fast the game loads or if there's stutter or not. Savegame size can influence the load speed, but the former is dependent on what size textures you're using and how many mods you have installed.

If and when you experince stutter, try ENBoost. It's a mod that counters stutter and at the same time acts as a tool that fool th game into 'thinking' that system RAM is V-RAM. Your GPU could use some help as 4GB of V-RAM isn't enough for a RAM hungry game like FO4.

ENBoost isn't an ENB preset. It only has an enblocal.ini in common in which you can set the amount of RAM the game can use. Rule of thumb is amount of RAM plus Amount of V-RAM minus amount of RAM the operating system needs (Win10 = 3GB) to run properly. In your case that would be 16 + 4 - 3 = 17; meaning you can fil-out a max of 17GB (17408MB) in the enblocal.ini. I have mine set to 18432MB (16GB of RAM, 8GB of V-RAM, minus 3GB for the OS would be 21GB but 18 is enough to compensate for the 10 to 12GB RAM spikes in FO4).

Also, in your Fallout4Custom.ini

[saveGame]
iAutoSaveCount=25

That should help some.
