How I hope TES VI looks

Okay, so Skyrim doesn't look as good as it should because it was made primarily on XBox 360 hardware rather than for the PC first and foremost. Hopefully TES VI will be made primarily for PC, but even if not and it is made primarily for consoles instead, it'll be next gen consoles, so it will look a lot better than Vanilla Skyrim.

So I saw this picture, and it made me think that TES VI could look like the graphics in this picture while running at a good frame rate.

What do you guys think? A realistic expectation for TES VI graphics? I sure hope the game looks that good.

It better! Don't get me wrong, the graphics of Skyrim on the Xbox 360 are great!

The Xbox 360 came out in 2005! They are doing a great job to keep the console fan boys happy.... Now that being said, I would rather have them spend their time and money on making the next game more real. More voices, more types of people, more of everything that Skyrim is-but better. Cloud technology will help in this area... I hope.

Who cares about graphics? Morrowind had some pretty good graphics and graphics have only gotten better since then. What we need is lots of dungeons, quests, adventures, activities, and dialog. That is what I would like to see the game designers focus their efforts on. I will not mind if TES VI uses precisely the same graphics as Skyrim.

While I agree with wanting Bethesda to focus on improving various things over Skyrim that doesn't include visuals, I'm also happy to know that TES VI will have significantly better graphics. The game will release when PC technology is significantly better and it'll also be coded for next gen hardware that will be a big step up from the hardware from 2005 and 2006. No doubt, TES VI will have much better graphics than Skyrim and I welcome that. I'm not spoiled and only want the best graphics all the time and I am rather content with the graphics of vanilla Skyrim, but I'm pretty eager for next gen visuals.

God, one year after Skyrim and people are thinking about a TES VI. You're not getting it for a long time, so I wouldn't think about it.

Aw, people do it all the time with different game series. They are just bubbling with enthusiasm over a series they really like. I know TES VI probably won't hit until I'm guessing four years from now. We can still talk about it. It isn't like I'm done and bored with Skyrim already. Far from it. I still want to play it much more, and mods will keep me playing it much more in the foreseeable future and beyond.

I agree that graphics themselves can't drive a game, but consider that graphics do help with immersion. Some people are perfectly immersed by Morrowind's graphics and ambience, while others are not. Graphics and gameplay are both legitimate parts of games, and as a result both are popular in both official releases and mods.

Graphics and gameplay overlap at times. Take, for example, a PS2 game called Medal of Honor: Rising Sun. I enjoyed it at the time, but I still remember one mission. I spent hours on that mission, because I was in a mazelike palace. There was exactly one door leading out of the palace and because there were no dynamic shadows and few polygons, the door was virtually invisible unless you stood right in front of it. Because of that, I searched the palace for hours before finally finding the door. All of that tedium and frustration could have been avoided if there had been dynamic shadows in the game to betray the location of the door, or more polygons, for the same reason. That's an example of how graphics assist gameplay.

Its not so much graphics that enhance immersion so much as art direction. For instance I just saw a side-by-side comparison of Skyrim and Morrowind (sans mods mind you), and I actually felt as if I could end up immersed in both worlds fully, with no issues. (Because I totally can and do get immersed in both games) And this isn't because of graphics, as obviously one is superior to the other, yet both have the same immersive value. Its because the art direction and style for both games are done so well and are so unique that it can suspend your dis-belief.

Good graphics can help, particularly when it comes to things like animations and even in creating a character you can get invested in (Though for that I find that being able to keep an in-game journal (one you can actually write in in-game) helps that even more) but they're not the main immersion enhancer.

I hope they don't go to even more cloud technology. My best times playing skyrim are when I am at my family's cabin all alone with no one in miles to bother me. There is no internet connection there. It is a pain to have to prep before I go to make sure steam is in offline mode as it is. And no, there isn't cell service there either. I think some folks think everyone live in the city and has access to a great internet connection.

@imperistan, Man do I ever agree with "a journal you can write in". Such a simple thing that should be in all RPG's imo. Can't believe no one has done a mod like that for Skyrim. Might be impossible for all I know but I would download it in a second.

I have no doubt that the graphics will be better. The quests and interaction should be too. That stuff aside, I'll be happy if it's not a bugfest and it doesn't require Steam or some other 3rd party software. Sorry, I know those are dead horses but I just can't drop it.
