MichaelTorr
I just acquired a speaker system (with built in amplifier) from my old house. I want to plug it into my digital TV.Problem is, the TV's "Audio Out" is digital, and won't physically accept an analogue audio jack. My TV does have a Headphone Output. Can I plug the speakers into that? I tested with everything off, the jack fits just fine. But would this cause damage to the speakers or TV? If you need more details: I forget at the moment the name of the speaker system, but it has a left and right speaker, with volume and tone control, they plug into a sub-woofer, the sub-woofer plugs into an AC outlet to power it up. So in theory it shouldn't be relying on the TV's output to power it up, the power for amplification comes from the AC outlet. Just looked up the type of speakers I have. Here are the specs: https://www.cnet.com/products/altec-lansing-atp3-speaker-system-for-pc-wired-series/specs/ Edited July 23, 2018 by MichaelTorr
HeyYou
Headphone jack should be analog output. I think you'll be fine.
