After playing Oblivion plainly for a long time, I have decided to add some mods to make it more interesting. However I found thousands of mods, most of which either interfere with each other. Does anyone have any sugestions on which mods are actually interesting, and run well with other ones?

Perhaps the first thing you should look into is an application called OBMM. It stands for Oblivion Mod Manager. I know there are some people who use other applications and are happy with them as well. OBMM can help you sort out those conflicts or as you call them "interferences." So before you start looking for good mods. I suggest a program like this that will help you sort out things like load order and mod conflicts. That way, you will have fewer problems no matter which mod you choose to run. At least that's the idea. LL. Hammonds is a bit of a legend on these forums and has written some very good articles related to this software. BBen46 also has written a manual regarding it. Just do a search for OBMM, I am sure you will find many other topics that address these issues.

As far as your second question goes. I will leave that to others, as there are so many good mods out there. But I would start with the Top 100, and also those mods that have been awarded Mod of the Month status. The runners-up are also usually excellent mods. But it really depends on the kind of game you play. So it is more of a personal choice than anything else.

Thanks for Asking,

If you are new to mods or have not yet read this article, I strongly recommend reading through it. It can save you a lot of headaches and has a lot of knowledge rolled up into a neat package.

Oblivion Mods FAQ

As StormRaven had mentioned, I would also recommend using Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM) as the basis for installing all your mods. This requires converting all the mods into OMODs which are specially packaged archives that OBMM uses to install the mod and track changes to the system for help in detecting conflicts as well as making it VERY easy to uninstall. A side benefit is that you can keep your older versions of mods that you've used in case you need to remove new versions and go back to older versions to keep your savegame from being lost (the reason I started using OBMM in the 1st place)
