Suggestions on finding dead J'zargo

So the thing is, I had J'zargo as a companion and he died somewhere in a ruin or cave (I think). I have absolutley no idea where his body is now, and I would like to because I gave him some important items. moveto.player just brings up a dead J'zargo without my loot. And player.moveto places me in a weird purple/green room :blink: with some naked dead bodies (presumably npc's I've killed) including J'zargo, but he hasn't got my loot. Maybe he could be in a hall of the dead? Is there any chance of that?

As you may know, when you used 'player.moveto 0001C1A3' you were teleported to what is known as the WIDeadBodyCleanupCell.

This particular cell holds all the bodies of NPCs that have died.

I suspect once an NPC is placed in the WIDeadBodyCleanupCell by the game, enough time has passed that the location where they died reset; and,

the NPC has probably been looted/stripped of anything they were carrying other than maybe their default scripted gear.

 

Anyway sorry, I do not know a way to reverse all this or get your items/loot back.

You may want to consider rewinding to an earlier gamesave and put a leash on your faithful Khajiit mage companion; or,

try to remember the names of the important items, search for the ID's, and use additem.

 

In the future it is usually a good idea to set any followers/hirelings with essential status so they do not die/vanish like this.

There are follower mods that will do this for you.

Couldn't you just use the revive command on the corpse and tell him to follow you, then fasttravel to somewhere else?

Normally yes, but you need to click on the corpse to do so.

@Michio2013, hi, you're right; but, i assumed freadam knew about moving J'zargo to his location and using the resurrect console command.

maybe i should have mentioned resurrect.

figured he was just lookng for a way to get back the stuff he gave J'zargo before he died. oh well.
