nofear88
I have been trying to get back into oblivion lately just for the old days of playing but I remembered the last time why I stopped playing. The game works fine as it is a DVD non-steam version bought way back in 2006 and also I have physical copies of shivering Isles and Knights of the nine. I have a lot of mods saved also as a secondary archive incase they are not available on the Nexus anymore such as Elswyer: Tales of Annequina and DUNE. I used OBSE as as well as the Save Manager to organise and seperate all the mods associated with the save games but it does not work anymore. It could be something to do with me experimenting with trying to install two versions of Oblivion before that seperated the registary key and overitten the functions of OBSE. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the game completely before excluding removing save games and the data folder with associated mods but OBSE wont run. My problem I think is that OBSE (downloaded most recentl naturally) will not work for me nor will it see any save games. Tes Edit is another tool I use too to segragate the files but that too will not fuction. Am I making any sense here?

bben46
Trying to run 2 copies on the same computer can cause strange things - I tried it early on and ended up creating my own Dual Oblivion mod (later removed due to a MUCH better mod being released) However, I did make an article on removing and reinstalling that became a best seller and is still available in the WIKI. It goes into cleaning up the registry which is what I think you need. Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the WIKI section of the Nexushttp://wiki.tesnexus...stall_procedure It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice. And here is the link to Mtes4manager that allows for multiple copies of Oblivion (and other games) mod that supplanted my Dual Oblivion. http://oblivion.nexu....com/mods/35263 As for OBSE, It is a very stable program and causes very few problems. However a mod that needs OBSE can still cause problems that OBSE gets blamed for. Please read the readme that is included in the zipped OBSE download to see how to properly install and run it. It is not a mod and does not either install or run like a mod. You MUST start the game using OBSE Every time - or it will not work.
