7thsealord
Basically, when I use FOMM, several mods (including some companions and 'resetfollowers_V3.3esp') all seem to have their respective Mod Index numbers "stuck" in the teens. I can uncheck everything, shuffle around mods to my heart's content, and re-check in just about any way you imagine - those mods remain well and truly stuck at those values. Which plonks them down inthe middle of the ESMs and certain patches that I know should go close to the ESMs. Just to be clear, I am not asking about load orders, I am asking about how to CHANGE this load order. Entirely possible this is somewhere in the documentation - in which case, thank you for you forbearance, please stop laughing and HELP. 8) One note. Please do NOT recommed BOSS as a solution to this problem. Tried using BOSS several months ago (this problem did not surface until very recently) - it completely randomized the mod load order and, even when this was fixed, my game would only crash on start until BOSS was removed completely. M48A5
Left click the mod and hold the mouse button down as you drag a red line to the location you want the mod. Release the left mouse button.
7thsealord
Tried that already, thanks. Doesn't matter where I move those particular mods, their Mod Index numbers (which I assume indicates load order) remains exactly the same. Other mods can be shifted around just fine, but apparently not these ones. Edited May 31, 2012 by 7thsealord
M48A5
I also use reset followers and if you read the bottom section of FOMM, you will get a message, "WARNING: This plugin has the file extension .esp, but it's file header marks it as an .esm!" That is why you cannot change the mod index number. It is quite possible you have other mods the same.
BlackRampage
Sound like those mods have been masterupdated. Which basically makes FoMM think they're .esm's while in reality they're still .esp's. I suppose you could remedy this by just using masterupdate on your entire load order, though not all mods can be safely masterupdated just like that. Another remedy would be to use Fo3Edit's MasterRestore function to change their file headers back to .esp's again. By the way: If you want to be able to easily see which mods have been masterupdated: Open FoMM > go to "Settings" > open the "Fallout 3" tab > then put a checkmark beside "Show ESM files in bold". 7thsealord
Thanks for the help, people. Yup, I am already alongside the idea that ESMs (and anything that can pass for an ESM) MUST go at the top. My main concern was that certain files seemed to be locked in the Mod Index. I mean, I could (if I chose to), move anything else to anywhere else in the Mod Order, but not those specific files. Just seemed especially odd that those specific files would be "locked in place" and not (for example) Fallout.esm. Anyhow, I'll see how my games stacks up, and thanks again for the help.
