So whats the status on this big mod idea? I just found page 1 on Google. Any heads up?

Repost from a couple of pages back;

The march beta is here An end to the infinity war-Viva New Vegas, it focuses primarily on cleaning up the dam, fort and legate camp, but also has some additional changes. Any beta testing is appreciated. This page has teh new companion (Marilyn securitron) and NCR player office/house in hoover.

Next on the "to do" list is the strip, can't say when I'll get a chance to work on it though. Bit busy with several projects and requests.

I'll try and update the 1st post in this thread with some info and pics when I have time.

Hmm.. thinking it over, people would react rather badly to a military outpost being built atop a cemetery, both the civilians and the military. So let's move the outpost to here:

You guys should touch on *local* recruiting. The NV BOS is much more open than other chapters and even though a lot of recruiting comes from the core region for the NCR, I'm sure they attempt to recruit from local areas once they are annexed. Might ease some of the resource problems (in regard to personal/manpower) that I saw you and blaze discussing (especially for the BOS).

I'd have to disagree. The multiple BoS endings show that the BoS are not exactly that open when Elder McNamara refused to adopt any of the new technologies or tech that Veronica and the Courier had found. At best, I see local militias being assisted by the Mojave BoS but not outright new recruitment.

just finished my 2nd playthrough of lonesome road and Ulysses mentions a critter that could infest the Mojave and do damage. Has anyone thought about the tunnelers yet?

A little bit;

Also I'd like to follow up on the tunnler's implied threat. Primarily I'd like an adventure where the courier penetrates to the tunnlers lair into the colony hatchery and detonates a pre-war nuclear warhead buried there. A way of killing untold numbers of eggs and sealing the tunnlers back in their tunnels as they were before the accidental nuclear detonation the courier caused (once again an act of atonement, although not for the tunnlers :wink:

I'll copy the stuff from the independent NV thread later.

This is more or less ripping off Gears of War 3, but there could be a quest where the Courier brings back samples to the Big MT. The Courier asks the scientists at the Big MT to develop a countermeasure against the tunnelers. Maybe something in the way of forced sterilization and a tailored energy weapon?

I'm trying to aim toward the think tank being one of the greatest pre-war bastions of science, but essentially so certifiable that their power cannot be weilded by teh courier (or at least not in any predictable, useful form). Limits their power for game balance purposes.

From there, a long quest where the Courier brings in a large force (reason: Large amounts of firepower needed to keep tunnlers at bay. Speed and stealth aren't viable options) into the tunneler tunnels, set off the countermeasure, yada yada and the Mojave is saved.

I'd disagree, speed and or stealth would make an excellent tunnel adventure, and would provide much higher stakes and excitement than a large allied force at teh couriers side. IMHO.

Your of course welcome to your opinion, but I'm not sure where why you'd use "I could make you care" (ie the new tech) as support for your argument. It was about Veronica questioning if the BOS should remain isolated;

"This quest is triggered by Veronica seeing things around the Mojave that cause her to question the wisdom of the Brotherhood of Steel remaining hidden underground and not interacting with the world. "

It's obvious from the end slides, that if the BOS survive they are no longer isolated in Hidden Valley (they patrol I-15 and Highway 95).

But no worries, if you don't see it that way, lore-wise, your under no obligation to work on the recruiting side of things for the BOS. To each his own, however I'd recommend touching on local NCR recruitment. Conscription in the core region (and I'd assume it would start up in an annexed area fairly quickly) are the lifeblood of the NCR army.

On a different topic, I was thinking it might be interesting for a NCR or independent courier to lay waste to a Caesar or House occupied NV. And it might be equally fun for a Legion themed courier to lay waste to a Independent, NCR New Vegas, or House NV. Same for a House courier.

One way to do this would be a dream, the next time the courier falls asleep in the Lucky 38. S/he exits the casino and the S hits the fan (kind of shocking if your a NCR themed courier and step right into a Legion New Vegas. It would be a great way to let us recycle material and have a great run and gun (plus it's limited in scope as a mini wasteland and the dream could end upon exiting NV walls).

Another could be a VR pod in the lucky 38 that accesses a continuously running simulation started by House. This VR's purpose was to essentially to simulate the result of choices that House would make in this winner take all gambit he was playing for NV. It would be updated with teh most recent info available (except possibly with the death of House), and so could take into account current events, but could project predictions (and a world simulation of those predictions) from any part of the timeline, allowing various alternate world/reality scenarios.

Ok, this firstly sounds amazing but I have a few story Ideas.

1. Maybe you could start campaigns to organize towns into your independent Vegas and form a sort of federation. Wouldn't be fantastical, but it would strengthen your hold in the Mojave in the eyes of the people.

2. You might recruit people from allied towns into a sort of militia.

3. Joshua could fill a Baron Von Stuebun (for those well versed in history) role and train said militia.

4. Perhaps you could begin military campaigns of your own, and attempt to secure some resources of your own.

5. Also, in Van Buren canon, Hoover Damn was a town. I think in the aftermath of a battle for independence, that the NCR would abandon the place for reasons already stated in this thread. So new engineers and soldiers would need to be placed there as replacements. And they need a place to stay, so houses or similarly purposed facilities would be built, and evolving into a town would take off here. And you could play an angle where there might be an insurrection (perhaps if you played like a dictator) and you have to decide whether to crush the rebellion or let them separate.

Yep, popular subjects in the thread.

I don't believe I'll utilize any of the HH peeps in the mod itself, I feel like HH is very much a world unto itself, with little to do with NV.

Yeah a big part of the mod is a military campaign against the legion, but as an option wholly dependent on the couriers choice. I'm trying to put together Sedona AZ as one of the new worldpsaces to battle them in.

Yeah, LuciaofArroyo was putting together hoover town (and doing a great job) but she's currently MIA

Yep there are options where you have to run the dam yourself (order of withdrawal, declaration of war), continue the treaty of new vegas and run the dam in conjunction with the NCR, or permit annexation and allow the NCR to run the dam while you retain ownership of the strip. The offer to permit annexation is based on the cut content from the House storyline, and will probably be utilized by those that followed the indpenedent storyline but destroyed or never activated the securitron fort or alternately, just don't want to run a mini kingdom. Most of the indpendent choices are based on the house storyline (Order of withdrawal, New Vegas Treay, offer to permit annexation). Just think of the courier as having the same choices as house in general.

I'v got some questions I'd love to hear in regard to what constitutes new vegas and the surronding areas as it pertains to the order of withdrawal (it's listed as at least the following; New Vegas proper, Hoover Dam, McCarran International Airport, HELIOS One, and the El Dorado substation), that I will post in the base mod thread. I want to look over the NV map before I do though.

A couple of aspects that I thought could limit the power of the securitrons; Being roughly the equivalent of a sentry bot (arguably more in some cases, ie pretty tough on the robot scale) and having hundreds of them (I think I did a count of the securitron vault and came up with around 250), not needing the typical logistics a human army requires and their unswaying loyalty makes them a potent force. So I try to think of ways to reign them in, and keep things challenging/interesting.

One aspect is the limited distance of their wireless network (at least as far as the fort). It doesn't prevent long range campaigns, but does take one of their assets away (the network) when they'r far from home.

Another limiting aspect could be recharging. Protectrons have their pods, as do eyebots (if my memory serves me correctly from lonesome road). I seem to remember a raised dias that mr handy's/gutsey's would rest upon, but I could be wrong about that. If the securitrons also require recharging that could definitely limit their effectiveness outside their home turf.

Another aspect I'd like to tackle is the income from the strip and the dam. I'd like some lore friendly way to use it up in the maintenance of NV. Food, operating expenses, etc are good places to start. But essentially I don't want to shower the player with caps each week/month, and yet limit those riches in a way that doesn't seem like a cheap shot.

The declartion of war will result in very few caps (no payment from hoovers water or juice from the NCR and NCR citizens will flee the casinos) so I'm not worried about that. But the order of withdrawal lists;

"a) Electricity: 5 caps per kilowatt hour.

b) Water: 5 caps per gallon"

So the caps could really add up.

The "Offer to permit annexation" and the continuation of the "New Vegas Treaty have" similar income.....essentially just caps from the strip (although they have to send 5% of water and juice to the strip from hoover). So the income will be significantly less than the order of withdrawal ending.
