jstLoner
UPDATE: My stuff was inside Dwemer Storage Cube mod. I confused it with a Dwemer Jar mod, which I remember not liking, getting all my items out of it and deactivating. I did use Dwemer Storage Cube though, and that's where I've been piling up my junk. Well, that's one problem solved, I guess. Now I gotta figure out how to transfer the mod container from an old save to a new one... Looking for any help on that front. Original post:So, it's been a year since I've played Skyrim Special Edition. I've installed it again, used Mod Organizer to check which mods I've used in my last save, redownloaded most of them and was about to get ready to continue my journey, but...I just can't find my hoard pile of items anywhere.I suspect they were stored in some mod-dependant location, and after redownloading an updated version of a mod something did not carry over, and my items got lost in limbo. I can try and fix the problem myself, however... As I've said, it's been a year. I don't remember exactly where I left my items, though I have some ideas:* Bag of Holding: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8066 <-- most likely this one* General Stores: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4322* Rayek's End (single bed): https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/16028I need your help to try and pinpoint which mod is the culprit, so I know which one to troubleshoot. Perhaps there is some info in the save file that might point me to where a particular item is stored (Sanguine Rose and Key to Breezehome were among them, for example). Or perhaps that info is stored elsewhere, outside the save files? Do mod items get completely wiped from your save if a mod is removed, or do they simply get hidden until a mod is re-enabled? Are there any tools are out there might help?Any useful info would be appreciated! Edited September 3, 2018 by jstLoner
IsharaMeradin
I cannot answer much, but I can tell you this: If a mod's container was removed for whatever reason, all contents inside of it are gone for good. This is permanent once a new save is made. If you have a save file that you know had the mod(s) in question active, see if there are older versions of the mod(s). If there are, install those, load that save and see if the container and your items are present. If they are, move them to your inventory, re-save, then try updating the mods according to the author's instructions (if any). Should none of that be possible or work out, you are out of luck and will most likely need to resort to console commands to obtain new instances of the items (which can cause its own issues if any quests expect a specific reference that no longer exists). jstLoner
I do have backups of old saves (even from as far back as 2 years ago), as well as backups of some of the mods I used a year ago (including the 4 I listed). I'm pretty confident that mod data is still included in the saves, and I think the mod versions I have are the same ones I used a year ago. Well hey, I found the problem: I'm a moron! What happened is I simply mixed up my memories between my Oldrim playthrough and the SSE one, because I've been using a lot of the same mods and re-doing the same quests. I dug up my Oldrim saves from before migrating to SSE, and voila - everything is as I remembered. I guess I never bought breezehome in my new playthrough, nor did I do the Sanguine Rose quest. I feel so stupid, wasted a whole day trying to solve the problem. :/ Oh well.
Shadeybladey
At least you learned something about containers for future reference! :)
jstLoner
Hey, update. Seems I'm not a total moron after all, and I am indeed missing a bunch of items. Auriel's Bow, Harkon's Blade, Ghostblade, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I've confirmed that I *did* indeed have those items on a *new* playthrough. I did try using older versions of the mods (I have backups of the ones I used a year ago), but to no avail. So to recap my main question: Is there any way to find which container / cell / mod contains an item of a certain ID? That info has got to be stored in the save somewhere, I just don't know how to access that info and what it's supposed to look like.Final update: Nope, still a moron. I figured it out, for sure this time. My stuff was inside Dwemer Storage Cube mod.
