Hjerim broken...

I was just wondering, are the spider web, the misplaced chairs, the broken glass and the spooky fog suppose to stay even after you've ''cleaned that murderer's mess'' from Hjerim? Cause I tried it several times and only the blood, the altar and the chest are removed, these still reimain:

Can't disable them from console ether. The mead bottles on the ground still say ''Investigate''.

Three options:

Hjerim Mess Fix

Console command: Using the console command DF492.DISABLE removes the bloodstains from the house (As per UESP.wiki, this has worked for me)

Or: Go back to before you bought the house, purchase ONLY the house, then go inside the house, return to the Steward and purchase the upgrades. (this worked for me)

The blood was already gone, as I said. Anyway I tried the last thing several times and it didn't work.

I AM getting the dialogue option, it's just that the misplaced chairs and broken glass and so on doesn't go away after the cleanup.

I had the same problem for the first time this play through. I'm curious, had you finished the Civil War quests before you did Blood on Ice? I tried going back to an earlier save and going into the house first before I bought upgrades, buying upgrades in a specific order, etc and nothing worked so I used the bat script from this mod Hjerim Bloody cleanup to fix it up. The script seemed to work well (it's just an automated version of GeorgieGril's second suggestion).

Good luck with whatever method you choose.

For the last time... there is no blood, that was cleaned up, that's not the problem, the problem are the killer's furniture and the webbing, creepy fog etc... that remain even after decorating the home. Check the Steam images. You're not helping if you just post random solutions without reading carefully...

And no, I finished Blood on the Ice waaay before even talking to Ulfric or Tullius for the first time.

I read what you wrote, but perhaps I wasn't clear enough when I said I had the same problem as you... No blood, but furniture, webs and bones, etc still there. The script I suggested will get rid of that stuff.

Well then I'll try it, thanks.

EDIT: Script works but I get the feeling the objects will be missing if I ever want to do the quest again. Anyway it works so thanks.

Both Flummox and I provided information that was directly related to your problem, which worked when you finally tried it. Neither of us get paid in any way to help, we are volunteering our time, the only payoff being that someone we've never met has a better time playing the game. Being rude just increases the chance that next time you have a problem, you may not find someone who is willing to help.

The script won't effect future games, only the save you've run it on. Once run you can delete it from the Skyrim folder. It's an annoying issue and despite my having dodged it for several characters it seems to be quite common. Glad the fix worked for you. Happy to help.

Well said and kudos. Something about drawing more flies with honey comes to mind.
