Interior Freezes

I hope you guys will be able to help me regarding this issue since It's been driving me insane lately. I only now started playing FO3 and followed bits and pieces of some more recent modding 'guides' to get a grip on some mods to have. I've followed a few optimization tips as well setting the game to use 4GB, setting up the Fallout.ini file with multiple sets of arguments.

bUseThreadedAI=1
iNumHWThreads=8
iRenderingThread2HWThread=1
iRenderingThread1HWThread=0
iRenderingThread3HWThread=2
iRenderingThread4HWThread=3
iHWThread4=7
iHWThread3=6
iHWThread2=5
iHWThread1=4

also with

bUseThreadedAI=1
iNumHWThreads=2

both run fine as long as it's not in interiors with any amount of clutter. A few instances that were pretty bad was the false wall before exiting vault 101, spring vale school basement and most recently at the Washington monument elevator. I've generally been able to just keep loading outside of the interior or even in it and try and run through it before the freeze occurs but with the monument I'm unable to do so.

I've even been running it windowed which 'seemed' to fix some issues temporarily but now nothing works and I can't go on with the story.

I've used both BOSS and LOOT for sort the load order and some bits for texture over-writing between some mods.

Load order is here: https://hastebin.com/avodomosed.apache

As short version of what is happening would be that I enter the building or load into it and if I don't move everything seems to be running perfectly fine, sometimes I can walk a bit around but after about 20 seconds it freezes and other times as soon as I load in and move the camera it freezes. It doesn't seem to affect using the pipboy or into the menu as it will keep working until I move the camera and it just freezes where the game becomes unresponsive and CPU usage drops to 0.

I am using the latest FOSE and running everything through ModOrganizer.

System specs:

Windows 10 64bit

CPU I7-7700HQ 2.8 4-core

16GB Ram

GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

I'm really out of ideas as to what to do next and I can't find anymore information regarding it.

Hope someone here can help shed some light on my issue.

Compatibility patches must load after the last mod that is being patched. Move Blackened lower in your load order.

It is very important that you read and understand all the material about a mod you are installing. It is a good idea to read the comments before you install the mod.

StreetLights-Wasteland needs to be de-activated and uninstalled. It is part of StreetLights.

Do not ever use LOOT to sort a Fallout3 mod list. It does not now nor has it ever sorted Fallout3 mods correctly. Stick with BOSS.

Which Fallout.ini did you edit. The one in Documents/My Games or another one? The one in My Games is the only one you should edit. That is the one the game uses to launch. It must have iNumHWThreads=2.

If you game is installed in the default location, any edits that you make to the game files will not save. You must have the game installed in a location other than "Program Files"

What other mod files or tools do you have installed that do not show on the load list?

Have you made the game Large Address Aware? https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/6510

Have you added Fallout Stutter Remover? https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/8886

Have you added NewVegas Anti-Crash? https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635

I see that you are Arefu Expanded. Make a note that at some time during the game you will not be able to walk to or from Arefu without crashing. You can fast travel to and from Arefu, you just can't walk there.

I've moved Blackened down and proceeded to use BOSS to sort the load order, deactivated StreetLights-Wasteland and removed it, I am using the Fallout.ini in Documents/My Games with the thread numbers set.

The game has been installed on a secondary drive so it is not in Program Files.

I've added NVAC and FSR with no change towards the freezes and the game was previously made large address aware.

After BOSS sorting the load order is :

After trying all the above I attempted to go up the elevator again and it froze in place shortly after activating the elevator.

I don't see anything in your load order that would be causing the freeze. I run twice as many mods without a problem. The only thing I can see is that you are using a lot of texture replacers. It could be that even with the 4GB flag set, you are overloading the system.

I use a couple of texture replacers for some armors and NMC Large for everything else.

To get a smoother game play, I lowered by graphics from high to medium and the game actually looks better.

Your Seducing Women esps are out of order. Yearling's Gasses should go under the other two but I don't think this is your problem. You should only be using one of the Better DC Weather esps.

When you have a problem you can't pin down you have two routes. First, open FO3Edit, and learn how to look for mod conflicts. Second, either start deselecting mods one by one until your game works or do it the other way round - start with 0 mods and then add them a few at a time. If I had a problem like you describe I would be looking at texture mods, weather mods and lighting mods first of all, since the problem happens at different locations. That includes things like Impact. And what does NoUIblur do?

Just as a general point, BOSS is just a best guess, because it doesn't have all mods in its database. To get the very best order you need to tweak it by hand and that means learning the mods as M48A5 has said. And it's a good idea to group types of mods together - UI, textures, quests, lighting and finally weather mods. But again, it's not a hard and fast rule. It depends on what the mod needs.

You can look at the STEP wiki http://wiki.step-project.com/User:Kelmych/Fallout3 and try more ini settings but the only ones I use are:

[General] bUseThreadedAI=1 iNumHWThreads=2 bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles = 1

The STEP guide has a lot of useful information but it's just a guide, not gospel

Finally, I would see if you can go back to an earlier save. If a save becomes corrupted it won't matter if you remove the original cause. Use CASM as it directs and never overwrite a previous save.
