Mass Effect 3 Black Screen with background sound after Prologue (Start of the Mars mission)

As title says I can't get past prologue. I've read here that somebody had the same issue some time ago, and fixed it by not modifying the save file early on. That doesn't apply to me thought cuz I didn't modify anything. I play with mods tho.

Mod List + my installation order:

1. Expanded Galaxy Mod (With Beta War Assets)

2. EGM Squadmate Pack

3. ME3Recalibrated + Update

4. BackOff + BOPatches + Update

5. EGM Custom Extras

6. EGM HR Vehicle Pack

7. a lot

8. A few extra textures + new EDI mesh

I also own all the DLCs except Genesis 2 and the 160BP small packs with extra weapons and skins

More info cuz it seems this bug is related to the save file. I'm trying to play with my imported Shep from the previous games (ME1 > ME2 > ME3).

All the main and side quests along with DLCs are completed in both games. I've also cheated the morality points to the max in both of them. + Money and resources cheated in ME2 past 500000 on the final save

(I've set both Paragon and Renegade to 5000 in ME2 at the start of the game, so the end score should be way higher, maybe it causes the bug somehow?)

In ME2 I've also changed the headmorph of my Shep along with updating the slider info to reflect the new face (Just the slider code thought, I didn't mess with the specific parameters)

Another thing that I think of, in the ME3Recalibrated installation guide it's said to drop the Compatibility and Optional Files inside ...\DLC_CON_ME3RE\CookedPCConsole.

BUT there is no folder with that name anywhere in the .rar/.7z. So I thought it's a misstype and placed the files inside ...\DLC_MOD_ME3RE\CookedPCConsole

Forgot to mention that I've also tried playing again from the start (3 times actually), and it always ends up with the black screen. (All 3 tries on the same imported file from ME2)

When you choose to use multiple mods together, that means you need to spend ample time troubleshooting problems on your own. We're not here to troubleshoot for you.

 

Disable all mods, then re-enable them individually and check for the issue each time. By doing this methodically, you'll be able to narrow it down to one mod or a combination of mods. From there, you should confirm that you've installed those mod(s) properly prior to posting in their dedicated threads.

Alright, fixed. The problem was caused by EGM Squadmate Pack for some reason

btw. moho25 is the DLC_CON_ME3RE a misstype or I'm supposed to create this folder myself and place files in it? There's only DLC_MOD_ME3RE in ME3Recalibrated

Hi Mefu367,

Thanks for the detailed info. Interesting that the squadmates pack was the problem. Nothing in that should load before you get on the Normandy. I will take a look.


Edit: Weird. I can start the mission no problems using your save. No EGM Squad files are loaded at that point beyond the coalesced.
