StanIsTheLaw
Having a problem with the Theives Guild quests, same problem in my 3rd attempt in doing the theives quests, same one each time. Vex and Mallory won't give me jobs and vex won't even talk to me. Have finished the first 2 quests (business and loud and clear). On each occassion the "No stone unturned" quest has started because I have found one of the gems before I get to riften. Tried consoles for TG02B, every stage and reset several times. Never get jobs from them or my armour. thanks in advance for any help.
Georgiegril
What mods for quests or NPCs/followers are you using?
StanIsTheLaw
No quest/environment mods of any type. One house for each minor village, a few minor mods such as missing smelters, smithingsmelters, house vendors, arrow crafting, clear fields, cmCompanions. A few armour mods, clothing, avoiding all major mods due to crashing problems. FollowerWander2Multiple Followers. What's got me beat is I cannot even advance the Get to Know thieves (TG02B) quest. i enter setstage 10, then getstage and it returns 0. 3 games now and I cannot get Vex to talk to me at all and Del only training option after I complete golden glow. judgemortis
Have you tried uninstalling the player homes?I know they seem like an unlikely candidate for the issues you're having but a while back I was having a similar issue with not being able to interact with certain NPCs/being unable to advance in certain quests and I eventually narrowed the problem down to a player home mod. StanIsTheLaw
I will try the player homes, but I am pretty sure it is not them, especially as I have no changes to vanilla homes. The common denominator is the TGCrown quest has always started because I found some of the gems, and I had 2 followers every time I got to the Theives Guild. StanIsTheLaw
Maybe be my Skyrim is shot. Tried without any additional homes and with only one companion. Still won't work. Interestingly, I tried to console TG02B, the quest where you get your armour after talking to Vex, Delvin and Tonina and get your armour. I entered a false value by console and it did not come up with an error message????? It should come up with something like cannot find 100? lWolfkillerl
Try deleting SkyrimPres.ini and starting the game up again if the problem consists then I don't know.
StanIsTheLaw
Tried that (SkyrimPref I think you meant). No change. When I started thieves quests I had 6 unusual gems which had started TGCrown quest before I got to Riften. When i first enterted flagon Vex would not talk. Since then i found 2 more and she now talked to me ONCE. When i say talked to me, other than push off lines. I have tried dozens of combinations of setstage and getstage and it is weird. It is as if TG02b and TGRNT and TGRBE quests are there but not activated. I can get their values which are always 0, set them to anything, correct or incorrect and don't get an error message, then go back and get stage and it still shows 0. Perraine
Un-check every single mod in the Skyrim Launcher (every mod!) Load up your game, zone (fast travel) to the other side of the map somewhere, then zone (fast travel) somewhere else or enter a crypt/ruin and create a new save, exit Skyrim and go into your Steam Library and the Verify Integrity of Game Cache ... then restart your game and start adding mods back in 1 at a time ...
