Body Slide troubles

One quick note. I should have spotted this, since I struggled so with both F:NV and FO4; F:NV doesn't have a Fallout4Custom ini!

Add the following lines to your "Fallout4Custom.ini" file located in "Documents\My Games\Fallout4":

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

Once more when I signed into STEAM before using FOMM to start F:NV I was advised that the Fallout ini was Read Only. I had to give FOMM permission to make it readable again. STEAM had replaced my newly adjusted Fallout ini with the original.

Another reason against having any account, like STEAMs, with games that we sign into to check for updates.

Those lines are either in or can be safely added to the Fallout INI files.

The "SInvalidationFile=" setting may or may not have "ArchiveInvalidation.txt", depending upon how you have "ArchiveInvalidation" (AI) implemented. It's been so long I've forgotten for sure, but I think the "txt" file is the game default method which is now discredited. All the "mod managers" use the proven effective "BSA Redirection" method these days, which has that particular setting left blank. Do not use more than one implementation of AI (e.g. "NMM" or "FOMM" or "game default"). For more on the subject, see the topic 'A Brief Note on "Archive Invalidation"'.

If you launch FNV from the Steam "Library" panel, it will replace your "Users" folder INI files with the "Fallout_default.INI" file from the "game root folder". It may also first set the "default" INI file to be "Read Only"; as might Windows if it is under the "C:\Program Files" folder tree. This replacement does not happen if you launch the game in "offline mode" from a desktop link and have moved the game out of the "Program Files" tree as described in the wiki Installing Games on Windows Vista+ article. Please see the 'Game INI files' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.

Sorry if I seemed a little gruff. Was in a foul mood because I kept getting a message when I tried to run the game with NVSE. I had NVSE already installed, but when I moved F: NV to a new Steam library it quit working.

I found another tweak for it, that may be of some use to you. It sure helped my game and I just found it.

It's a NVSE loader that sets up NVSE so that when you click on PLAY at the STEAM library it loads right out of STEAM. Put the .exe in the Fallout: New Vegas folder, not the Data folder and click on it. In will find your game and install.

That NVSE works when you are signed into STEAM and click on play.

Much nicer!

ok. so NVSE has been brought up. but i'd like to say that all the other mods i've got active are functioning properly. only the unofficial patch plus mod doesn't work for me. it just straight up causes game crashes before even reaching main menu. even just by itself it does this. so with that said. is nvse pertinent to body slide stuff? also i am sad to say it's taken me to now to realize it might be a textures thing that i'm not sure how to solve seeing as i've re downloaded textures twice now. maybe it's because i've been doing this near the end of my day and might not be clear minded or something that i'm just not catching on to how to approach this. i've yet to visit the wiki that was recommended. i'll do so now. was the nvse thing brought up because it opens the game out of steam which also ties in to the fact that steam likes to change the ini back from what i want? speaking of which i need to monitor that and see if it's actually doing that for me.

Before install mods, you need to read and understand the mod requirements that are on the mod description page. It is plainly stated the the Unofficial Patch Plus requires NVSE and JIP LN NVSE Plugin.

Not having NVSE and JIP LN NVSE Plugin is the reason you are having problems with the Unofficial Patch Plus.

If you are using the body slide software to make your character, clothing, and such, you are likely being frustrated when you add your character to the game because Fallout 4 CBBE was and is intended for FO4.

To make your day even more interesting, you can read the comic strip with a transformed Moira at the following link. I haven't tried it, nor read the details, and therefor it may have what you need or at least more about how to proceed and get your creation corrected.

A full version of CBBE Fallout: New Vegas may be available in its entirety at another website, but it doesn't appear to be available at Nexusmods.

Check out the nexusmods link for CBBE-NV < https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/64508 >

As long as we're on the topic of improvements for us late bloomers. I mean, I didn't really get into video games until I almost had both feet dangling into my grave. I was just sitting there mind you, getting some perspective when the fears of my siblings started to bring some insight as to why I turned out the way I did.

(don't use this if you already have any mods that effect the weather installed and/or if you really don't want to experience some serious stormy weather that last for a ingame day (setting days so they last longer will really make you feel miserable if you don't like storms in real life, because the storms will likely send you running back to your nearest motel room.)
