chewydown
Hey, this is a problem I keep finding all over the net, and one I've been trying to solve for about a week now. What is happening is that my settings for Fallout 4 will not change from the default high quality settings. I have uninstalled / reinstalled the game many times. I've made the ini files under documents set to not "read-only". I've tried running the game and launcher both as admin but nothing seems to work. If anyone could help me with this issue I'd be very appreciative.
Deleted58783396User
download this tool: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/102 place it in your Fallout 4 root folder open it - and you will be able to change all the settings. once finished click on the, Settings Tab - and click on the Set INI to Read Only, option, and then save. this will prevent fallout 4 from modifieng the ini files. Note: you will want to click on the other tabs, not the main tab, as that is for advanced editing. i also recommend F4SE so you can bypass the fallout 4 launcher, thus never changing the ini files, so your edited settings will stay permantly. download F4SE here: http://f4se.silverlock.org extract all the contents into your fallout 4 root folder, overwrite when asked. Usage: every time you fancy playing fallout 4, launch steam first, then double click on f4se_loader, to launch fallout 4. for best results, right click on f4se and create and shortcut, and place it on your desktop somewhere, or on the task bar for quick launching. from then on out, never launch the game via fallout4.exe or fallout4launcher.exe, simply double click on f4se_loader, and the game will load. Note: Fallout 4 root folder = where fallout 4 launcher is located. Note: make sure to launch steam first from a cold boot, else simply clicking on f4se_loader before steam is loaded, will launch steam and then fallout4launcher, which could edit the ini files again, so yea. from a cold boot, launch steam first and then launch f4se_loader Edited September 30, 2018 by Guest
