HadToRegister
OK, the game is running fine, however, I started having problems when I got ED-E in Primm, at first, I thought the problem was caused by ED-E himself, as every time we got into a battle, after it was over, there would be a constant, white noise constantly playing, and ED-E was using a Laser, I was using the Varmint Rifle. I had previously cleared out Primm by myself and didn't run into the sound problem, until the Laser Sound from ED-E seemed to cause it.I looked into it, and it's not the "Inventory Bug" with ED-E, it's also not the crackling from his weapon upgrade, because he hasn't gotten an upgrade (I just started) So, in order to rule out that it was ED-E and his Laser or just ED-E himself, I dismissed him and played without a companion, everything was going fine, gun battles were fine, UNTIL...I ran into those "Bright Cultists", because they use Laser and Plasma rifles.Sure enough, during a fight with about 4 Bright Cultists, during a lull in the battle, I heard the white noise going in the background again, and it must've been set off by one of the Cultists pew-pew-pewing with his Laser Rifle. So, The looping white noise (I assume it loops) seems to be caused by the Laser Rifle sound. Here's my load order in case anybody has had prior experience with this # Automatically generated by VortexFalloutNV.esmDeadMoney.esmHonestHearts.esmOldWorldBlues.esmLonesomeRoad.esmGunRunnersArsenal.esmClassicPack.esmMercenaryPack.esmTribalPack.esmCaravanPack.esmYUP - Base Game + All DLC.esmNVEC Complete.esmAdvanced Recon Tech.esmCompanionInfAmmo.esmDetect Traps.esmInterior Lighting Overhaul - Core.esmNew Vegas Redesigned II.esmELECTRO-CITY - CompletedWorkorders.esmMomod.esmProject Nevada - Core.esmProject Nevada - Equipment.esmELECTRO-CITY - Highways and Byways.esmInterior Lighting Overhaul - L38PS.esmMikotoBeauty.esmoHUD.esmProject Nevada - Cyberware.espWeapons.of.the.New.Millenia.esmYUP - NPC Fixes (Base Game + All DLC).espEVE FNV - ALL DLC.espUncut Wasteland.espFellout.espNVR- Recommended.espMonster Mod Wasteland Edition.espMojave Raiders.espWeaponModsExpanded.esp1nivVSLArmors.esp1nivPNSLPatch.espWMX-DLCMerged.espGRA - The Right to Bear Arms.espMojave Wildlife (FO3-Style).espBobblehunt.espAdvanced Recon Armor.espAdvanced Recon Gear.espAdvanced Recon Gear - Project Nevada.espAdvanced Recon Tech.espAdvanced Recon Tech - Detect Traps.espEMR-StealthSuitMkII.espFNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting - All DLC.espWildWastelandChecklist.espWMX-EVE-AllDLCMerged.espDeadlierExplosivesNV.espConvenient Fast Travel Markers.espSnow Globe Quest.espCompanionInfAmmoOptional.espLootEverything_ForDlcSupport.espSaveCass.espUHNV.espbzArmour.espCASM with MCM.espCompanionInfAmmoCheat.espDarNifiedUINV.espDJ NVEC Weightless.espDJ PN Cyberware Weightless.espDetect Traps - DLC.espDetect Traps - Perk.espDetect Traps - Traponator 4000.espDistributed Necklaces and Chains.espDLC Weapon Integration - WMX.espExperience Points Reduced 10 20 30 40 50 Percent.espExtendedNVRadio.espFaster Terminals.espFellout-OWB.espFONV VIS-G.espGlowingChems.espMikotoBeauty.espHairPatcher.espHIIheadgearpack.espHeadGear Pack Level List.espILO - YUP Patch.espImproved Casinos.espInstant Aid Healing.espKarma Perks.espKDS Green World.espLight Step ED-E.espLVL99PEL.espMachienzo-RadioNewVegasFixv11.espMMWE-No Werewolves.espMMWE-Passive Rad Horns.espMojaveDelight.espNew Vegas redesigned- Honest Hearts.espNVRadioSpeakers.espOWBTransportalPonder.espPassive Startup Messages.espProject Nevada - Dead Money.espProject Nevada - WMX.espProject Nevada - EVE All DLC.espProject Nevada - Gun Runners' Arsenal.espProject Nevada - Honest Hearts.espProject Nevada - Lonesome Road.espXtraSpecialNV - MCM.espUnofficial Patch NVSE.espProject Nevada - Old World Blues.espRagdolls.espShilohDS-Color Maps and Icons.espShutUpDLCCompanionsAlt.espSpawnTerminal.espSpecial Snow globes.espStimpak Counter.espThe Mod Configuration Menu.espThe Weapon Mod Menu.espUHNV-Honest Hearts.espUHNV-Bobblehunt.espUHNV-Dead Money.espUHNV-More Mannequins.espUHNV-OWB.espUHNV-Brighter Lighting.espUHNV-Lonesome Road.espUniversal Item Sorter.espVoice dissonance fix.espWeapons.of.the.New.Millenia.Honest.Hearts.Grunt.Patch.espWeapons.of.the.New.Millenia.Leveled.Lists.espWMX-ModernWeapons.espxatmosSkillPerks.espXS Skill Training.espzzjayHairsFNV.espInterior Lighting Overhaul - Ultimate Edition.espDJ Item Sorting.espFNVMerged.espSmashLL.esp
dubiousintent
Haven't heard of this particular problem before, but the following similar sound problem solutions may help. This seems very similar to the 'Issue: Background Noise bug?' in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" article. You might also try increasing the size of the "Audio cache" under the "[Audio]" section of the INI files as follows:iAudioCacheSize=4096iMaxSizeForCachedSound=512Just bear in mind that memory given to "cache" is not available for other uses by the game engine. There is always a "trade-off". I would be interested to hear if something else resolves the issue.-Dubious-
HadToRegister
Forgot to mention that the title music sometimes doesn't stop playing either. It seems random, but the only way to stop it is to quit out to the desktop and restart the game. No, the "Turning the radio on and off again" doesn't work. Well, changing the Audio cache size iAudioCacheSize=4096iMaxSizeForCachedSound=512 Does nothing.I suspect it's the audio files of the mod that are in question and get stuck in a loop right at the tail end decay of the laser sound. dubiousintent
If the problem occurs with the title music, then it is more general than the specific laser sound. I would look at your sound configuration: mixer and "sound" control panel applet. Try running some DirectX audio tests. The video, audio, and mouse drivers all have some interaction with each other; especially in that they compete for priority access to interrupts. Check for recent driver updates. The "latest" drivers often are not tested against older games and can introduce problems an older one didn't have. That the problem is cleared by restarting the game, and that it's a sound not terminating, suggests the code is getting "lost". This is sometimes a symptom of memory leakage or too many active plugins. As mentioned, I haven't heard of this before so it is not likely to be a mod problem per se, but more likely to be specific to your setup. -Dubious-
HadToRegister
Found the problem!Well, found the comment of the person who figured out the problem. The problem arises when you follow the instruction for the mod Vanilla Restored Audio PatchYou end up restoring an fx folder called "steampuddle" which has two ambient sounds in it.The problem is, when firing Lasers in the game, for whatever reason, causes the engine to triger and loop endlessly, one of those two ambient sounds, until you quit, or reload the game. From the comment section: harlandgg 19 April 2018, 12:16PMHi, if like me, after following this guide, you have a bug where a weird noise comes up during a combat and doesn't disappear until loading a save, I hunt down the sound that is causing this bugIt's in fallout new vegas\Data\Sound\fx\amb\steampuddleDelete the folder "steampuddle"Sure enough, I deleted the 'steampuddle' folder and no more endless noise after firing mah lazor! dubiousintent
Glad to hear you solved it. Thanks for the information. I'll add it to the "Troubleshooting" guide for the next soul in agony. -Dubious-
HadToRegister
I'll add it to the "Troubleshooting" guide for the next soul in agony. -Dubious- Please do, because it's a super obscure and rare 'bug', only caused by extracting that sound folder, which means literally NOTHING shows up in a google search pertaining to that specific problem
dubiousintent
Thought I did this yesterday ... but better late than never. Added 'Issue: SOUND - Combat causes infinite loop sound' to the "Performance" section of the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" article. -Dubious-
