dunno, but last time I checkd, I was getting around 260k per sec on downloads. since this is with my cable modem, I figure thats pretty fast. Used to have to download the bnet patches with a not-even-36k modem, and it took around an hour and a half. Now, it takes somewhere from 3 to 5 minutes. Thats smokin, man.

poor old me is stuck with 56k, fortunantly its getting cheaper for unlimited speed broadband and all, its $60 (australain dollars) a month now, so i can only hope my retarded family can finally think "thats cheaper than before", so they can get the damn thing, even ADSL will do me fine, anything that runs RTCW online good...and Enemy Territory...lets not forget that.

 

but i tell you, downloading a ..... *movie* thats 200mb took me 3 days and it didnt work, so im getting into the habit of making fun of channel 9...why?.....why not...

ahh, telstra cable (768kbs-???kbs) for $60 (AU) a month, and my dad (very very slow person) is thinking of getting it, so now, i can download maps for RTCW without waiting 40 minutes for each map, providing he doesnt get Foxtel Digital instead, it seems due to him paying for a separate phone line and 56k at the same time with Optus, its costing him more than $50 a month, so getting cable is only slightly more expensive (by $120 or more) and is damn fast...the ability to download pornography and pass it around my school will be exciting!.

 

PS....anyone seen that 40 minute movie or paris hilton...you know...the one of her....umm...sleeping.....in night vision.... <_<

I have cable at the mo. I've had about everything over time. I started bbs'ing eons ago at 2.4, and remember when 9.6 was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I've also had sprints fixed wireless, which speed wise was great, but had a lot of lag, which hurt online games. Also have had verizon dsl in the past, which was reliable, but chugged along at 256k. I get 5 or 6 times that speed with my current cable provider.

So I'm the only one who doesn't know how fast my internet connection is... well, I don't have internet at home (I don't even have a telephone), so I don't really care as long as it works. But the last time I was downloading something that was 15 MB and it took about a minute.
