e1grey
How much work would it require to turn interiors like Vault 114, Parson's Asylum, Switchboard, Fallon's Department Store, and other major interiors into functioning settlements? The fact that you clear out some of those locations and can't move in, doesn't make much sense to me. Closed locations would be more secure and protected from radiation, etc. From the mechanics standpoint, interiors are generally easier to build in because the surface is flat and the angles are (usually) straight. Also, it would make a good reason to go back to these places. With many of them, a player has to visit them once (Switchboard, Combat Zone) and never come back to, unless you need some junk or you forgot to pick up a magazine or a bobblehead. I know that there are some mods that turn certain interiors into player homes (like Boylston club) and Switchboard was turned into a settlement by Elianora, but apart from those, I couldn't find a comprehensive mod with more underused interiors as settlements. I know, I'm asking too much.
montky
it depends;there's a few ways to go about it. Are you envisaging pre-war 'pristine' / 'SimSettlement/Transfer Settlement" interoperable ones?if so, that's more like the Mod Author of "Red Rocket Player Homes" tutorial suite. This often involves regenerating previs and precombine for the effected cells;https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/5522717-fallout-4-optimization-and-performance-systems-explained/some locations like V75 or downtown boston are trickier than others... conversely, some mods such as War of the Commonwealth and place anywhere etcwill enable you to place a small amount of objects wherever as a 'mobile portable workbench'.this is admittedly kludge-ier.there are some distinct advantages - these 'para-settlements' are places Preston Garvey and the like doesn't know about.so, you build your para-settlement, assign your settlers or build your Gigolo's and Strumpets, put in your raider-cages, and your Robo-Supply line.you can even add site-to-site teleporter with RuadHan2300 or Pra etc. It gets somewhat more complicated if you want your settlementto span several new-land locations and such too;or, if it is the Mass-Fusion Elevator, a mobile settlement such as upon Cypher2012's monorail cart etc, Good luck and I look forward to seeing what settlements you come up with!
