tesoblivor
I think the method of managing file conflicts is messy and overly complex. For example weapon mods tend to have a file called "PersistantSubgraphInfoAndOffsetData.txt", which can be safely overwritten. There's no way to tell Vortex this, other than either leave a load of unresolved conflicts or create a massively complex relationship with a load of unrelated weapon mods. There needs to be an option to not create a rule and simply say "overwrite", and not have it flagged as an unresolved conflict. If I have misunderstood what is happening please let me know. Thanks for the all the work done so far :)
AugustaCalidia
To create a rule is the way Vortex says "overwrite." Your "overwrite" option is in fact a rule-making option that is no different in principle from what Vortex already does. As for your claim about "a load of unresolved conflicts" and/or "a massively complex relationship with a load of unrelated mods," I am genuinely puzzled. I use Vortex to manage three games (six profiles altogether) with scores of weapons mods, and I have yet to experience the problem with the text file that you reference. In setting up my games and profiles, I had only a handful of override issues, and they were resolved within minutes. Having said all of this, I hope that I have not misunderstood or misrepresented your post. If so, please let me know.
sopmac45
There needs to be an option to not create a rule and simply say "overwrite" .... ... let' say that you download a mod master file but there is another file for that mod that the author explicitly advised to be installed after you installed the master file to be overwritten with, so you download that file and Vortex ask you to resolve a conflict between those two mods so you do. Vortex call it "resolve conflict rule" but technically it is an overwritten procedure. How do you want Vortex not to advise you to resolve that when is not Vortex but the mod author who has injected that condition so Vortex will apply exactly what the mod author wants ? Rule, or the name "overwrite" are to the same purpose, to resolve a conflict between two mods ( or more ) and not doing so will be considered something "unresolved" from your end. Vortex is just advising you to do it but ultimately it is your decision to either ignore or apply its suggestion. So far I am playing SkyrimSE and Fallout4 with no more than 5 rules for each game that I had to resolve and took me seconds to apply each one of them .... and my games are running like a charm. You can always resolve file issues via Xedit ( merging or using Wrye Bash ) so both mods will apply what they do regardless of which one overwrote which in Vortex.
