havoknoc
after spending 3 days searching ive found the solution its too simple . that im surprised i didnt think of it . all you have to do it is open your catalyst control center goto gaming then 3d application settingsset your anti aliasing to maxset your anisotropic filtering to maxtessellation maxcatalyst a.i to qualityvertical refresh offanti-aliasing mode max qualityand turn off triple buffering and make sure you unclick all the use application settings basiclly it seems skyrim has a big problem handling your graphic card settings so it has to be bypassed to let your video card do it so nvidia users make sure you turn off all settings that let the game manage your graphic settings i also am using amd catalyst 12.6 beta also turn off both aa features in the launcher menu since it will conflict now with your forced setting Edited June 21, 2012 by havoknoc
tetradite
Hmmm, I've never had a problem with the auto detect regardless of my Catalyst settings (it sends me to High when I can usually run Ultra but no biggy). I had to STOP bypassing application settings to stop myself getting crashes and errors. That was before patch 1.6 though, that seems to have changed just about everything! havoknoc
a lot of people are having the same problem , i could play fallout 3 and fallout new vegas in ultra high but when skyrim starts it would set my graphics to low after this fix it detected me at high graphics finally :)
tetradite
Yeah I know, I've seen the posts, just wondering why it isn't affecting me... if there's a problem to be had (that isn't due to mod conflicts, I run v few mods) I tend to get it! The weirdness that is Catalyst -v- Skyrim I guess. It's like a random bug generator! EDIT: thanks for the post by the way, I didn't know the 12.6 beta was out, now I'm FINALLY off 12.3 (well, 12.4 showing up as 12.3, you know what I mean I'm sure!)
