Getting FO3 To Work With Mods and FOSE

SOOOOOOOO, after not playing the Fallout games for a while, I got bored with Skyrim( mainly I just wanted to play Fallout games since they were a different atmosphere, and the amazing mods that have been compiled for them are numerous, and would add a whole lot of gametime to them ). I First started off with FNV, which I modded heavily, and had a good understanding of how to do so. After a while, I missed the D.C. Wasteland, since I felt it had a whole different atmoshpere than the cowboy-esque Mojave Wasteland. So, I just bought FO3 off of Steam, modded it heavily, but when I started a new game, the game froze after birth. Messing with deactivating mdos would either give me a short amount of time extra before the game froze, or less. So. I decided to run the game without FOSE and figured out that is what was causing an issue. I rechecked my installed files, and found out I had installed FOSE incorrectly. I had pull all of the version .dll files into the game directory( lol ). So, I deleted them and let the one that my game version is. Now I believe my game version is 1.7.0.3, because I checked properties on the Fallout3 application. So, I deleted all the other .dll files. My .dll files in my Fallout game directory are fose_1_7.dll, and fose_editor_1_5.dll. I also have the fose loader with them of course. When I did that, I played the new game until after I enter the room to take the G.O.A.T. exam, where the game freezes again. I took a guess that Steam was messing with FOSE, so I exited Steam, which got me to play more of the game until after I need to escape from the vault. I go help Butch's mother, and right after I save her the game freezes. Now I now it has something to do with FOSE not running correctly or something, because I play the game fine, and everything happens like it is supposed to with the vanilla game.

I am currently re-installing the mods by using a backup of my directory files I made prior to modifying the game. This was my load order before I deleted the directory, and when I could not get past saving Butch's mother.

 

Any help would be appreciated. I did not expect FO3 to be even more sensitive than FNV =) If there is a guid for installing this, please direct me to it. I have looked through the pinned guides at the beggining of this Fallout 3 Technical Support, but that seems to be for an old 1.5 update so it does not apply to me.

 

I am running Windows 7 x64, I just installed the Fallout 3 GOTY edition yesterday off of Steam, and as I said before, I beleive my current version is 1.7.0.3.

Sounds like the multi-core bug.

 

Open the fallout.ini, find the line that reads "bUseThreadedAI=" set the value to 1.

 

Right below this line, add this one - iNumHWThreads=2

 

This should take care of the freezing.
