White Screen

Hello,

i got an white screen on the Vortex manager.

The Problem starts if i start the Vortex manager.

The manager starts but dosn't open the Programm the Programm is only shown in

the right bottom corner on the programms that are running like Steam.

If I open it there the programm opens but it is just blank.

I achived the Problem by put Skyrim in the Manager from Vortex.

From there on i just got the Whitescreen that dosn't dissapear.

I looked in my Task manager and i can see that it maybe is trying to open something from the Manager

but it open and closes itself , and there are 2 Tasks open from the Vortex the whole time.

I already re-instaled it but now it dosn't open like the first time I opened it...

Where did you install Vortex ? Did you let it install in its default path and same disk ?

The default installation path must be : C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Vortex ..... is this the path of your installation ?

Is your game also installed in the same drive ? It should be : C:\ProgramFiles(86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\game ....

Can you post a screen shot please ?

I installed it a lot of times and i tryed the default and another path

C:\Users\Myname\AppData\Roaming\Vortex

D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim

I Instastaled other games to but there are all on D: and it only crashed because of Skyrim.

From what do you want the Screen? The whitescreen , from my paths or from the Task Manager?

Ok, and why do you have Vortex in the C:\ and your game in the D:\ ?

They both must be in the same drive, have you tried that ? If not, give it a shot and let us know.

It still dosn't work i could open it one time but again if i try to manage Skyrim it crashes and then i got the same problem again...

D:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex

D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim

I think I need to do it on my drive where Appdata is so I need to do it on C? or is there a other solution for this Problem?

I don't have so much memory left on C.

No, it does not have to be in the C:\ drive but the game and Vortex should be in the same drive you are using.

Did you make a typo mistake because you said : D:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex ..... and should be : C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Vortex ... AppData\Roaming\ ... ?

Have you tried to completely remove Vortex and reinstall it ?

Also, could you please explain very well what did you mean by this :

I achived the Problem by put Skyrim in the Manager from Vortex.

From there on i just got the Whitescreen that dosn't dissapear.

I installed it on D with the Vortex (custom install location) i also tryed the other installer so it installed it on C but

both have the same defect if i try to manage skyrim.

I want to have it on D:\....\ and not on C:\....\ but the appdata folder will be on the C drive.

Yeah i tryed it but the Problem still remained.

Sure:

I achived the Problem by put Skyrim in the Manager from Vortex.

From there on i just got the Whitescreen that dosn't dissapear.

-> Open Vortex -> Games -> Discovered -> Picture of Skyrim -> Manage Skyrim -> Loading Screen -> Whitescreen that remains evem if I restart Vortex

Other Question could it interrupt if i have 2 Skyrim folders?

I got one nomral and one for Enderal.

Nasago,

Check the information located in : Vortex Help Center, FAQ, Documentation ....

... I do believe that perhaps the problem is that you have Vortex in AppData\Roaming but at the same time everything else in your D:\ drive .... I think ( I may be wrong ) that everything must be in the same drive and probably that is why Vortex has a white screen. It seems to me that is looking but does not find anything because you have it in 2 different places.

Let me know.

To clarify:

Vortex is using these locations:

Install Location for Vortex itself

Default "C:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex".

This directory only takes about 240 MB, i.e. almost nothing.

This can be anywhere, at it's easiest to leave it on C:\. No reason to install anywhere else, especially as it is so small.

Location for Vortex' database and config files.

In C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming (if Single-User mode is used)

or C:\ProgramData\Vortex (if Multiuser mode is used)

On my system, with 3 games managed, this takes about 850 MB. Not too much either.

This location cannot be changed!

Location where the mods are downloaded to

This will be used to store the archives of the downloaded mods, exactly as they were downloaded. After a mod has been installed, its archive can be deleted, but it's better to keep it, in case you later want to reinstall the same mod (maybe with different settings).

That directory can become quite large, as you download many mods.

By default this is also set to a subdirectory of AppData, but I recommend to change that, because AppData is not a good place for this.

This directory can be set in Settings->Download->Download Folder:

Location where mods are unpacked and configured

This is the so called "mod staging" directory.

This is the only directory, that has to be on the same drive as the modded game! That's also the reason why this setting (any only this) can be changed for each game individually (since not all games have to be on the same drive either).

This directory is also quite space intensive, if you have many mods installed.

This path can be set in Settings->Mods->Mod Staging Folder (<game name>):

I hope this clears up things a bit. There's too much hearsay and "not-quite-right" information going around here lately.

I cant use the Mods direcotry, i need to "manage" Skyrim for that however befor that happends I already have the whitescreen and it happens only on Skyrim, TESO is just working fine

but on Skyrim it is different and i don't know if Enderal is the problem that this is happening or could it be that its because i modded skyrim befor? Both TESO and Skyrim are on the same drive...
