Any continent that sinks will leave behind its mountain ranges, if they are high enough, which means that this is what the 'remains' of Yokuda are, the mountain peaks.

It does seem strange though, that the Redguards were forced to migrate to Thamriel when Yokuda sunk, if there was a decent amount of land still left.

Monarch_Anor:

And on the Yokuda thing. I still find it weird that every book in game concerning Yokuda doesnt mention a word about the Empire sending ships there nor does the Pocket Guide mention anything about it. Almost all lore concerns the fact that Yokuda no longer exists. That the anvil lighhouse keeper mentions that ships sail for Yokuda I personally find to be an error on Bethesdas part. Plus where exactly does he state thht they send ships to the remains of Yokuda to explore it with Water Breathing?

I made the assumption that (since they DO have water breathing) mages and so forth would want to explore the remains of the ancient Redguard Civilization. I mean I would, wouldn't you? Perhaps its not even the empire who sends ships, perhaps its historians? I also agree with Infinite if there was still some land left what forced them to immigrate?

on topic:

I guess you could say a best guess of Nirn seeing as were having this big debate of this (which is my fault I realize and regret)

correct me if i'm wrong but isn't aldmeris supposed to be far southwest of tamriel? also thras isn't there. about yokuda, a particular map somewhere did depict yokuda. My thoughts are that what's there is the "ruin". perhaps the highest land or mountainous regions are the remnants of it, I mean, it was formerly referred to as a continent when there is little more than a few large islands, I imagine that the redguards were forced to emigrate because most of civilization on yokuda was destroyed, if they had coastal cities or fishing ports i guess that they would have been swept away. yokuda is believed to have had a powerful navy which suggests that it would have had a number of naval towns and harbor like anvil which were lost in the event. also if only mountainous regions remained, then farming would be impossible. I consider it plausible that the early redguards had and agricultural and naval lifestyle based on their civilization in hammerfell, and yokuda would have been left virtually uninhabitable by a naval/farming people.
