FNIS/FNIS PCEA2 ISSUE

OK, weird issue I'm hoping someone can help me with or has any ideas I can pursue.

I have FNIS installed. Correctly (I believe) so that it runs from the Vortex tools folder with GenerateforUSER. It goes through the motions. It registers my new animations, including PCEA2. 743 for 4 mods, I believe.

Problem: I have more than 4 animation mods. Closer to 10-12 I think.

Problem 2: I don't currently have PCEA2 installed (completely removed it and the archive to make sure). FNIS keeps seeing the animations for FNIS PCEA2 somewhere and I don't know where. I loaded a few of the YY animation mods in its place until I could figure out some issues with it, ie it wasn't registering on my MCM even after the setstage command.

You'll have to excuse me here, because I'm doing this from memory as I am not currently at home in front of my computer. Anyway...I have two entries for FNIS in my Plugins. FNIS Behavior 7.4.5 (or something like that) and FNIS Data. I have one entry for FNIS in my Mods. There is no mention in either place if FNIS PCEA2. Any ideas why FNIS is still saying its installing PCEA2? Are both these .esp's supposed to be there in Plugins?

I'm not stating this program is at fault or FNIS is. Just looking for suggestions from people more versed in VORTEX than I am since I've read a few posts where they are not working together. It's more than likely a screw-up on my part. But they are currently not playing nicely together and I'm hoping someone has had this issue and can help me solve it. Otherwise I'm probably going to have to remove all my mods, re-download them (USING 1K versions because its killing my computer) and start new. Which is going to take me an incredible amount of time based on the number of mods I have. Right now it is at 317 with my texture mods as well as those with esps. No, I am not over the 255 limit for esp's/.esm's (just running more texture mods than I need to now that I've found Noble Skyrim). I have all my conflicts resolved. My game is, theoretically, good per Vortex. I have a list of things to do once I get home

  • clean save
  • clean scripts
  • load order check
  • resetting FNIS
  • (if all else fails) uninstalling/reinstalling FNIS.

Any other ideas?

Yeah, I was just going through his FNIS and FNIS PCEA2 forums to see if anyone mentioned an issue like this in case I messed it yesterday. If what I remember of the output is correct, it just looked like a normal output. I don't think I got any errors, but it wasn't loading the right plugins. I know I'm running it from the right location, that's why it's got me stumped. I'll add the output when I get home.

These are rather installation than FNIS or PCEA2 issues.

Problem 1: "more than 4 animation mods. Closer to 10-12 I think." That's just too vague. Which ones do you expect IN PARTICULAR? Dont forget that animation replacers are NOT animation mods that FNIS will look for.

Problem 2: FNIS will try to install PCEA2 as soon as there is a folder "animation\FNIS_PCEA2". This can have several reasons (besides regular installation). For example there are leftovers from previos installations (for example in this "FNIS\Data" that Vortex creates). Or there are some mods that highjack PCEA2 by simply adding to PCEA2's folders.

Although in that latter case there should be an FNIS warning. Therefore you should always post the FNIS output, as The GreatFalro has suggested.

Thanks for the post Fore. I am currently experimenting with something. Apparently I have a lot of deactivated .esp's/bsa's in my data folder. Wrye Bash is throwing me an error about too many plugins and ghosting them. I just can't get them ghosted for some reason. I know you are supposed to go the the mods tab, right click a mod, and you'll see the ghost option. My problem right now is it isn't "sticking" when you click it. Kind of forgot I re-loaded Wrye Bash in this harddrive change mess, so it may not be a FNIS, FNIS PCEA2, or Vortex issue. We'll see once I'm done experimenting. Otherwise, I'll post some pictures or restart this as a Wrye Bash issue thread. I didn't think the issue was FNIS. It seems to be doing what it was designed to do. The operator, on the other hand...

And good reinforcement on the whole animation replacers not being animation mods. Maybe I do only have for that are TRULY animation mods. I can think of three offhand that fit into the replacer category. Oh, and FNIS PCEA2 was one of the mods not activated in my data folder, or parts of it. That's where it seems to have been pulling the animations from.

Nope. Still crashing on me. I think I'm going to start over. Remove everything then re-import from NMM and start from there again. That was the last working game I had, so that's what I guess I need to do. The research I did on that error in Wrye Bash said it could be safely ignored unless you were running Oblivion anyway, so it wasn't my holy grail. I did a manual sort of the mods then redeployed them. Maybe I'll try to load a different game before I give up on this load. Hmmm, maybe I won't even do the import. Just start from scratch. I guess at least if I re-download everything I can pick the lower resolution options so my computer doesn't act like a dog. Always a silver lining I guess.

Oh well. I knew there were going to be bumps in the road moving everything over to Vortex. I guess this is one of those bumps. Thanks to everyone who commented. I appreciate it.

Hmmm. Corrupted save games. I went back around 5 or 6 games trying to load them, and one of them worked!!! Obviously I immediately saved about five times, quit the game, and restarted it using my last save. So far, so good. I haven't ever had to go back that far to retrieve a game, so... novel experience. Not the tools, just the user...

Now to go through my list and download lighter versions for some of these mods. And replace them. Let's see how long I can go without breaking things.

Again, thanks for the comments. I think Fore steered me in the right direction, so a special thanks to him. Really didn't need the frustration of reloading mods this week.
